He was constantly showing for the ball in little pockets of space and everyone ignored him for a simple sideways pass

This is is, we play Southgate football in possession and it

makes everyone look worse. Thats football made for a team of Longstaffs, not Tonalis, Nicks, Bruno’s, they need high tempo, inventive football. But Eddie was a centre back wasn’t he?

with eddie you are not going to get inventive football.

but you will get a team that shithouses, goes brute force and wins physical duel and high stamina and pressing.

alot of players just simply don't suit eddie's system. we need more workhorse.

If we’re ever going to challenge well need the ability to do both, this and last year it’s shown that in crunch games when pressing and shithousing isn’t enough, we don’t have the ability to create. And it’s not like it can’t be done with the players we have at full strength, especially with an addition or 2. Managers have to adapt and find more ways of solving problems. I hope to Christ he can but I think you’re right.

I was a bit sad that, for once, he had quite a lot of space and time and still struggled to do much with it.

Still, have faith he can create some chances and would start ahead of other options now and just try and make it work. Chopping and changing isn't working. His form was 1000x better when we were all worried about him 'burning out' with too many games.

"Anthony's legs, his desire to press, makes the team play better. It had a really fluid look to it. We wanted to play with a fluid frontline. We wanted to press aggressively. You need quick & mobile players (to do that)."
