Eddie isn't going to change his system/formation to suit Nick.

We won't play with a playmaker, similar to his reluctance to use a dedicated DM (WHICH IS HIS PREROGATIVE, RELAX). So it's down to Nick to fit the system, which I'm not sure he's capable of physically.

Made a pigs ear out of this. I love Nick though, so I'll hold out hope.

Teams are beginning to shift their style of play a little last few weeks with more teams playing 4-2-2-2, so it might be that we have to adapt to that style of play,

Howe has already started to tweak things IMO, definitely in certain games to get the wide forwards running inside more.

He's not just going to grind Woltemade into the ground while blindly pursuing stuff that doesn't work. He'll be working day and night to develop it.

I don't think I've seen a player get his shirt pulled more and receive no decisions from the ref for it for a very long time. It's incredible how much he gets fouled every match.

Happens to any player above 6ft 2. Burn gets grabbed and pulled all over the place at any set piece and never gets anything.

Referees seem to have this mad view that tall people are incapable of being fouled.

The game we lost against Arsenal at home this season was the worst deliberate shirt pulling I’ll ever see. It was ludicrous what happened that day

Him being so tall hurts him a bit I think.  If you planned out your system like he was 5'4" it'd probably work better for him.

Doesn't help that ex-footballers and "expert" panellists don't pull referees up about this either. if they gave pens for shirt pulling in the box it would stop overnight.

He's scared to shoot FFS. Appalling mindset.

I’m one of his biggest fans, but that wasn’t nice watching him so shot of confidence as to not take a shot. He got himself in a couple of decent spaces tonight with the crowd egging him on.. it was there for him.

Change in shape got him into some great spaces. Has taken too long to try this setup.

Far more likely to get more out of him in those positions if persisted with.

Should really continue with it going forward, but I doubt we will.

Yep

He just get to easily drowned out when he’s at 9. He’s lacking the physical edge, and the nastiness needed.

Thiago for them tonight showed it’s night and day

He's got good feet but there was a point where he was absolutely flattened when he went up in the air for a ball on the centre circle. I think it took him maybe a minute and a half to pick himself up he looked like he needed a chair tbh.

I didn't know if he was winded or just sad

Those couple of times when ran at the defence, everything closed up on him due to shit movement and awareness from his teammates. That time he got into the box he should've had a crack though tbf.

It also left us wide open in the midfield and we were lucky not to concede more…
