You're right but he was very poor like. He has been for a while.

Sesko banging them in now along with JP and Ekitike - our list was decent but we may have gone one too far down it. Still can’t write him off until next season.

Oh it gets worse :) - the teams who put three past us in 12/13?  Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool (and the Mackems - cheers, @Alan Pardew).

The teams who’ve put three past us this season?

Leeds, Bournemouth, Brentford, Everton …

Lads we’ve been over this time and time again. We got 5th… I wanted to kick on and build from that. They brought in players like Vurnon Anita. We almost won the Europa League. See ya later.

We wanted,Ekitike ,Pedro,Sesko,All leads back to the Isak situation. 2 years running we havent got our business  done early  so players can be bedded in.Unfortunately Nick was a rush buy and not suited to Eddie's  style of play.

I'm incredibly frustrated now. I haven't written many comments lately.

The first three or four months were thrilling, and Nick played so well. Then something must have happened for his form to decline so quickly. I don't know if it's because Eddie wanted to transform him into a different player than the one he was when he arrived. But it's just not working anymore. In his current tactical role, he'll continue to deteriorate and, more importantly, lose even more support from the fans. He's not an attacking midfielder, he's a striker, even as a second striker, not a midfielder, especially not in the Premier League.

I can hardly stand to see him like this anymore. I'd rather have him rotating with Wissa up front than continue to get worse in midfield. He barely gets any more balls in midfield than he did as a striker. Either he's moving incorrectly between the lines, or his teammates simply don't see him. He's constantly signaling that he wants the ball short, but he's almost never passed to him. Things can't continue like this for him. Either coming in as a striker or from the bench.

Sorry, but I'm frustrated.

He needs to play in the hole, as a #10, as a second striker or what have you. It’s the only way his talents can be of use in the PL.

Its seems to have been the rotation with Wissa (when he came back from the injury) that affected Wolte's form.

Yes he wasn't scoring every game up to then, but his last really good performance was the Chelsea 2-2 where he scored two, and  could/should have had three), but shortly after that game, he started getting rotated with Wissa... the two of them barely played together, and I think that affected his game, and gradually his confidence dipped, and now we are where we are.

Don't think anyone thinks he is TBH, it's more about finding a place in the team for him while we try to press with a faster forward.

We did the business kind of late in the summer of 2023 aswell. Seems like we often end up trying to negotiate for a long time. It worked for us the first few windows, but not so much anymore.

Don't get me wrong, he's a huge problem at the minute, but the amount of focus and heat he's getting in the media is annoying me a lot.

If you want to talk about Newcastle, why not talk about us routinely conceding 2+ goals every fucking home game? Because that's a far bigger problem than Woltemade right now and doesn't seem to get a mention.

That requires criticism of the likes of Pope & Burn which is sacrilege. Woltemade is a far easier target.

Compare him to other PL-level ‘10s’.  He is nowhere near the level required for that role.

Just in terms of his strikers instinct, that goal against Wolves is what I expected more of TBH. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong but It's the most simple adjustment he can make to at least try and be more effective. When the ball is out wide, just go and stand or drift to the far post.

He always just seems to be stuck in the middle of a crowd in the centre of the goal which is fine if you know what you are doing and know how to impose yourself but one or two games aside, he's often struggled to make any impact there. Plus it might have give our wingers something to aim for. Many times at the match me my mates are screaming 'why doesn't the cunt get himself at the far post'.

The Wolves goal shows he's got the ability once he's in that position so not quite sure why he didn't try to make that more part of his game? I'm surprised Eddie hasn't instructed him to do this, or maybe he has and he's just wasn't doing it. With his size as well, he was bound to get a couple more goals or knockdowns / assists.

Of course, this is not going to solve all his issues but I'd rather have two effective touches in the box than a hundred elsewhere. All the other caveats about his performances are valid but this is something I'm completely baffled by.

He has been on a witch hunt with Woltemade since the start of the season. The fact that he has said that he doesn't support Newcastle now as it interferes with his 'journalist professionalism', tells you all you need to know about him as a person.

The pile on from journalists, and ex-pros who should know better, is bizarre giving some of the tripe far more experienced players are serving up.
