Felt like tonight was the first time he was awarded the fouls he's been suffering all season. Didn't think the ref was spectacular by any means but he handled Woltemade fairly which is super rare.

There was one or two he still didn’t get. He did look a good bit better. Teammates still aren’t passing to feet to him enough.

Didn't think he was particularly good tonight but I'll die on the hill that he's an absolutely quality player [emoji38]

I thought he looked more willing to put it about physically and mix it though, which was great to see, won a few headers quite aggressively in the second half before he went off too.

As an aside, more evidence he's obviously a great lad, there was what looked like Bayern Munich youth teams on some sort of trip who were at the game and he gave his shirt to one of them and spent a bit of time with them after.

Where did he play today? BBC has him down as left in a front three?

Central like a 10 when we had possession, but of a Joelinton position when they had it.

However since Gordon went up front we are a lot more fluid apart from the back 4.

More to this, I've just watched MotD analysis of our goal and we are so bloody hard to pick up. Willock has made that move a few times when he sees that gap.

If Joe wasn't injury prone I'd keep him, he goes under the radar and is at times incredible.

But unfortunately he is injury prone, consistently.

I'd love him to get the winner against Barca next week.

Willock is better recently. Still prefer to cash in but if the offer is not good enough then he could stay

Agreed.

Offers so much when he is fit.

Willock was brilliant in that 22/23 season when we finished 4th, his ability to accelerate in tight spaces is still unmatched in the midfield.

Still, pretty injury prone and two years left on his deal. Think there will be a mutual parting of ways this summer.

Woltemade will come good. I said the same about Wissa recently. And I said the same about Ramsey and Elanga for most of the season. I think both Wissa and Woltemade have been taken out the team because they aren't where we need them to be, and I suspect both will be doing a lot of work on the training pitch. We know that eventually that pays off with Howe.

Woltemade will also 100% be here next season because nobody is paying the £60m fee it would take for us to not book a loss on him (and the only club who could/would buy him from a wages POV is Bayern).

Imagine sitting on the bench and seeing Osula come on instead of you... He will be gone this summer.

Spending 70m on a striker to replace the best striker we've had since Shearer and he doesn't get on the pitch over 2 legs in a CL knockout tie against Barça and is barely getting any minutes in the league as he's now found himself behind a LW and a raw, unpolished chaos merchant in the pecking order

I really want it to work out for him here but there comes a point where you just have to accept that it's likely not going to happen

We will loan wolte out imo.

Honestly, it won't happen. You'd need to find someone to cover his wages + around a £6m loan fee to avoid booking a loss in year. The only team in continental Europe that could afford to do that deal is Bayern. I guess there is a chance they do that with him as Nico Jackson's replacement with a buy option. But Bayern aside the only other place he can go from a financial perspective is probably a PL side - and I can't really see an Everton or Palace doing that in the knowledge that if he does well, he'll return to us (and probably more to the point, I'm not sure he's shown them enough this season for them to want to do it).

I'd be livid watching our team capitulate like this and he still doesn't get some minutes wissa aswell.

We'd have capitulated more with either of them on the pitch

Wissa is finished here before he started. Howe doesn't trust him.
