I don't think he's been terrible but it's madness how much of a stick Woltemade is to beat Howe with. He's very flawed.

He shouldn’t be criticised for not picking him - he should be criticised for buying him

He’s terrible in that attacking midfield / 10 / false 9 position, mind. Has nothing needed to play there having seen him try it for months now.

Honestly the only way to get anything out of him is as a penalty box striker where he can use his head or one touch and finish with balls coming in from out wide. Just work with him to try and develop that or he’ll be a lost cause.

I blame the fans

We need to have a look at ourselves like. We always seem to escape scrutiny despite being the common denominator no matter who the manager or players are

I’m happy to accept now that he should move on. It’s best for all parties. I really like him though and hope he goes to a team where his attributes work.

Agree it's centre forward or nothing for him.

Yep, but he’d need to start jumping for headers every once in a while…

With his height I initially compared him to Peter Crouch.

But in hindsight Crouch could jump, hold his own in a tackle and run.

He might not have the technical skills of Nic but he had the bare minimum of what a footballer should have.

Wouldn't give up on him yet, desperately lacking in confidence. You could see what he has technically when he arrived, very skilful and can finish when given the opportunity.

Tbh when it comes to technique Woltemade is closer to Crouch than he is to someone like Berbatov.

Not many players are anywhere close to Berbatov but I get your point

Would have loved him here!

You’d think today would silence the Twitter incels and fifaheads who drone on about him being mismanaged. he just isn’t suited to the league as many people said before we signed him, sadly. Hopefully we recoup most of the money and he goes on to have a good career back in Germany.

As critical as I have been of Howe, I've found it really odd how he has been getting the blame for Woltemade simply not being good enough for what we are trying to do. Back in december right before Wissa came back, it was pretty obvious that Wolte wasn't what we needed up top for our system (which in fact was the broad consesus on the forum back then), and that's why Wissa was rushed back. A few months later we're rewriting the history to it being some kind of Pardew/HBA situation. He's just not that good of a striker at this level, and Howe has realised that, hence why he's on the bench most of the time. Should Howe play him just because of price and the fact that a lot of fans likes his character?

Just got back from the game. One pass to Osula aside he was shite. We have one option with him, penalty box number 9 or nothing.

if he can’t be that, sell him.

Assume he hasn't included Ramsdale cos he'll be sent packing in a couple of weeks!

Fair, I’d still be tempted to put Ramsey in it, considering the price we paid and what he has contributed.

This guy looked so much better when he first joined and was thrown straight into the fire.

For a while now he's gone from quick, clever one touch play to dwelling on the ball too much. You would think he'd be told to go back to doing things quicker, but nothing changes.

Think he's been managed terribly and not sure if it can be recovered now, as he's so far off what he was early doors, and think many have turned on him now.

Think there's a really good player in there that will benefit from being in a better team, with more direction in the attacking phase.

I don't see that at all, I just seen people constantly getting on Woltemades back, don't see others in the team getting anywhere near the criticism he gets.

I see it the other way around. Very few players would get away with the amount of shit performances that he has had, with clear red flags on display, and still have a decent amount of fans defending them.

There's many players who have been poor this year though that's my point but seem to get less attention maybe because he was a big fee?

Yeah, but several of them are getting stick with even less (or no) people defending them, so I actually think he gets away with more
