Worth mentioning how bad we were defensively again. Having been solid to start the season, the last few weeks have been as bad as it’s been under Howe.

Again, I was in favour of using Willock in the pre-match. I want us to use our squad, that's the point.

On the balance of play, I think its fair to say Marseille edged it. The controlled the important parts of the game better than us... but it wasnt a poor performance from us ane we shouldn't be ashamed.

It’s just this away form will continue being a monkey which we can’t get off our back until we do something about it. Also the fact that we keep losing them in the same manner: take the lead then throw it away.

I tend to find it easy to find the good/positive/mitigation but am finding it extremely difficult to just see past the fact we've lost from a winning position for the umpteenth time this season. Feels like a really bad one because Man City feels like another false start, and it wasn't just on Nick Pope.

 

Just got to hope having both full-backs and Woltemade from the start will mean something different at the weekend.

Think I might start and never look at the table. Feels a waste of time watching any away games at moment, such a contrast from some of the home games although even then don't think we have been amazing at home, obviously match on Sat was excellent and cup games. All season it's not clicked, no control and no confidence, maybe it is the amount of games but need to find a way to cope with that and learn to rotate more.

I do not agree that we where under no pressure. In fact I do believe we invited it with our passiv approach and lack of ability to keep the ball in the team.

We were under some pressure, but it didn’t feel bad to me (apart from that one missed header). But we broke on them a number of times and should have done better when our opportunities arrived.

 

We will have spells of pressure against us in every single away game… the home team will always have a period of dominance. We dealt with it fairly well I thought.

 

Until the dopey one in goal fucked it up.

I'm not surprised people are putting the boot into various players and the manager. For some, that's what they do. 

Top and bottom of it we were 1-0 up, away from home, to the team 2nd to PSG and 30 seconds into the second half Nick fucking Pope shit the bed. Everything else that transpired after that moment is entirely on him. 

 

I think we were still in shock then they hoyed the 2nd in (good finish). 

 

Honestly, don't want to see Pope play again.

See this game as a free hit, never sure what the result would be along with Leverkusen away too. Barca, PSG, also to be written off really. Good points on the board already and expect to beat PSV at home should see us through. Draw in any of the other games would be a great achievement and an improvement on last time out. 
 

Few players probably given there all tonight I.e. Willock but maybe that’s the best he can give, don’t really get much more from him than frustration, probably one of his better games tonight on the whole but without the minutes he gets he probably in the same category as Longstaff who for us just doesn’t have what it takes.
 

Eddie needs to give a bigger game chance to Ramsdale, Pope has done well but can’t keep popping up with mistakes, although a good keeper overall, his inability to play with his feet’s puts us a man down really.

Personally, I thought we were decent. Quite frustrated and disappointed, as many are it seems, but nothing in that performance to justify an entitled, scapegoat-seeking, moan-fest. Can’t win ‘em all chaps.

the issue is this one, which says it all. We scored and then let them have all of the momentum. We go in at half time thinking we're doing ok because it's still 0-1, and then act all shocked pikachu face when Marseille score twice in quick succession. 

 

We can't just keep trying to defend one goal leads like this. It's not what we used to do when at our prime under Howe at all. You can't just surrender all momentum in the game just because you've gone ahead, it's suicidal.

Because it ended with us leading? And while they could have scored we could have just as easily been 2-0 up with some better decision making and/or finishing? 

 

And then they only tied the game because our keeper did something completely idiotic? And that plus them having a natural finisher was ultimately the difference?
