Olympique de Marseille 2-1 Newcastle United (25/11/25) | post-match from pg. 56

Recommended Posts

If we start the game with the 11 that played Man City, we win this game.

Luxury we can't afford at the minute though. League has to take priority at the minute.

Tough loss but still in good shape in the Champions League.

Would be ok if a one off, every away game though. Will finish mid table the form we have away.

And if we finish mid-table, so be it. Its only because of this great manager why we get to sit here and whinge on these Champions League nights.

Aye, it does make the Everton game that much bigger though.

God I can't bear defeats these days, man. Three mornings I haven't woken up and wanted to top myself wasn't nearly enough.

How well we played barely when matters at this point, though we were a 6/10 if you're being extremely generous. The point is we lost from a winning position in the third fucking away game in a row. That is an absolutely terrible sequence.

Mannnnn 😫😫😫

We deservedly lost. Whether it’s individuals or systemic I’ve no idea.

If we can’t outrun a team we just can’t beat them. We’re not good enough at football somehow, despite some top players to outplay teams.

Well, no doubt it was a bad misstake from Pope. But he also made some very good saves today. Except for the misstake he had a very good game I would say.

There is absolutely no point making 3 or 4 routine saves a game if you make a clanger every game and give a goal away

Thankfully we’ve got home cup ties to keep something going in our season, otherwise it all feels shit. Nice we’re in UCL, but away form just makes it all meh until it changes.

Fact we have PSG and Leverkusen away left means won't be in it long. Don't know how we change it but need to make teams fear us again away from home. This year truly shocking when away

We played ok. We are playing the CL against a good European side. Don't let that get in the way of being cry babies though lads.

Maybe ok isn’t good enough anymore, we really need to up our game if we’re to start challenging cup & titles, we’ve stagnated.

I'd have taken a draw tonight, a loss isn't that bad considering our points tally in the CL so far. This was not an easy fixture. Beat Everton and put tonight behind us.

Broken record but I do wonder where we'd be in both leagues had Wissa not got injured. Don't think we lose this tonight if we didn't need to rest Woltemade.

Agree with all of the bold. The performance is the annoying part.

Marseille are good and there was no shame in losing to them but I think the tactics were a bit dismissive of Marseille. Thought we could flat track bully them, but when they countered with possession football, we didn't even know what the question was [emoji38] It was arrogance to try that Gordon up top shite.

I know it’s easy to say after a loss, but i do not understand what Howe is thinking with the starting line up.

We are not resting key players players bar Wolt, but play a weird formation that does not work and suit our players. We got a goal, but could easily have conceded 2-3 before the break.

The we lose the lead, and we just throw on everything we have to fix the problem, without really fixing it.

Our technical ability is so poor at times. We need more players, not runners. Especially out wide.

I thought we played well first half. Could have been 2-0 up in 10 mins.

Pope’s antics are what cost us the game. Really is as simple as that. We weren’t under any massive pressure at all.

Obviously i don't agree the main sentiment tonight. As i thought we played OK, Pope's nuttiness aside.

I must say, and I'll whack on the tin hat.  We sound so entitled and spoilt with some of the comments, the jump to to pile on criticism is quite stark.

The frustration isn't in response to this one game or performance tbf Blimp, the away form in general warrants criticism. We are one of the most Jekyll and Hyde teams I've ever seen.

We were decent tonight in patches but can't keep parking the bus then melting down once we concede a goal on the road. It's the same game over and over again, it's hard not to voice frustrations when you know we can play as well as we did on Saturday.

Ran the players into the ground for the second match in a few days. And for what?

Had we started other players and lost you would have whinged. You have a monopoly on whinging.

But he's also accountable for this and isn't without blame.

Spent quite a lot of money to be that fucking crap on the ball, absolutely hopeless stuff watching us attempt to pass the thing.

Mentality is weak as piss away from home. 5 wins all year, man. It’s December next week.

Three of them in January too.

Fuck me I knew it was bad, but not that bad

Yep, not one against a decent side either.

Spurs, who finished 17th.

Birmingham, who were in League One.

West Ham, who finished 14th.

Leicester, who finished 18th.

Union SG, who would be lucky to get into the top 12 in the PL.
