It's crazy

Entitled brats expect us to batter all teams all the time, else we are "shit"

That's not how sport works

Yep. You'd be forgiven for thinking that they'd never played a game of football in their life.

We were much more solid than I expected in that first half. This is their "PSG" at home game and we've dealt with it well.

They have barely had a sniff aside from long throws even with Tino and Tonali off it. Making it hard for them to score when they are bad at it to begin with is absolutely the right move.

The problem is we add more pressure when we needlessly give them the ball back, especially down the right.

And we’ve offered little threat because no one across the front three can make anything happen. Elanga can’t control a football and I think is scared of it coming to him, Gordon has given it away multiple times, and Nick is getting pushed around. He’s also incredibly slow to react - two times he was second to a loose ball that just has to be his.

Quite sure that’s the difference between turgid / lifeless and tactical masterclass.

Longer this goes on, and we all know what happens when it gets to the late stages of a game.

Need an early goal after half time, fucking crucial.

First ten minutes of seconds half and last ten are the worst for us giving goals away and Sunderland never know when they're beat this season, this is going to be tough. I don't think they've lost to any team below them this season, maybe Burnley at the start of the season but that's it

Weve defended really well, it's a derby. There's loads of things that aren't quite right at the moment but we've quashed any rhythm they were trying to have.

We've also got players on the bench who can win this for us.

Then maybe you can see why there's negativity  Look, I agree, it's the derby, and we can still get something, but you can't be surprised if there's negativity when we don't play very well...

Hopefully the idea was to tire them out first half and let them run themselves into the ground. That could create space for us second half if we've saved ourselves a bit.

I realise I'm being either really kind or really generous.

Sunderland had the better of the first 20 then we came into it a bit.  We've not shirked the battle against Sunderland players who are going full tilt into the tackle, that being said the usual suspect is anonymous. Yes you Antony Gordon . Elanga's been shite but he's trying. Tonali's been rubbish . Again.  The senior players need to look after some of the youngest lads here.

You understand the difference between not being at our best and being "pish" though right?

Have we been brilliant, no. Have we been solid, yes.
