So today for our game, we had Don Goodman (ex Wolves and the mackems) doing co-comms for Sky. Yesterday. Gary Neville (ex Man United) was doing the same thing for the Manc derby and just now, Dion Dublin (ex Villa) is in the seat for Villa v Everton on 5Live.

Problem is for me, as much as these lads may try - they can't try hard enough to hide their inevitable bias, to favor their former sides. Whatever happened to genuine impartiality on a game, rather than it being so one-side as it was for our game today v Wolves?

 old

It's not a new thing either - I also remember Sky bringing in Niall Quinn to do the job when we played the mackems in the past. Am I becoming an old grump in my old age, or do others find this a turn off?

Sick of listening to either biased co commentators, or dull as dishwater ramblings from the likes of Chris Sutton or Alan Smith.

I'm partial to a bit of Scottish passion personally. Ally McCoist and dare I say it, Andy Gray were more my cup of tea.

Jim Beglin a big miss as well imo.

It’s fucking shite.

I can’t even listen to commentators anymore, I just put music on and watch the game on mute.

They offer very little useful insight even at the best of times and the modern phenomenon of a former one-club player jizzing in his kegs / whinging his arse off because his beloved team is winning / losing is aural Ebola.

The commentators today were gushing about Wolves. They were desperate for The Toon to be beaten. That's not on really.

Probably biased but recall king Kev being canny alongside his old pal Brian Moore. Then again he could present the Antiques Roadshow and I would knock one out..

'Transparency' is the method of our era for all manner of obvious corruption and bias. All of it can be hand waved away by ensuring it's declared - even if that just means it's brazen.

This is just another example of how football is political, that you can't escape it, and half of the stuff we hate about football all comes back to politics and capitalism, as daft as that might sound.

McCoist is really good, but I've never heard him on when he's covering Rangers or the mackems though!

Been saying this for a while, It stinks to high heaven, Sky is just as bad with the studio `experts` We had Paul Merson whooping when West Ham scored against Spurs and it wasn't even the match he was watching

The standard is deplorable and should subconsciously be part of the show like it was, people's opinions that you actually valued.

There were two stand outs from the 90s John Fashanu for being not very good (short lived run) and Ian St John for being absolutely gutted we beat Dinamo Zagreb. That combination of not being very good and biased is standard now.

You used to have to have some aptitude with either enthusiasm generally or love of the game, be a big name or have footballing or general intelligence.

Sins aside Andy Gray and Big Ron were brilliant, the rest included Don Howe, David Pleat, Liam Brady, Bobby Charlton, Graham Taylor even local ITV regions had Barry Fry and Lennie Lawrence. It wasnt just some random former player that preferrably is a wanker performative or otherwise like now for the bants, crash Tv and clicks.

Not the co-comm but the main commentator in our game said Tonali and Joao Gomes were from the same country - could have sworn one was Italian and the other Brazilian

Coisty’s fucking shite, tried listening to the cunt cos people rate him but all that faux matey bantz with “Fletch” is just pure cringe.

How Coisty managed to get balls deep in peak era Patsy Kensit, I’ll never understand.

A differing view, I couldn't give a....

Sit there watching the football and chatting to my boy throughout so I couldn't give a damn who's commentating.

Prefer listening to McCoist but what pleases me pisses someone else off, and vice versa.

Today's society wanting everything their own way and needing others to see everything through their eyes.

Chill watch the footy, have a beer and a chat whilst doing so rather than stressing over what a third-party is saying or not saying

I think commentary commentary is much worse than it used to be too. Even commentators that were previously good or seen as good got dragged down with it. Motson and Tyler ruined their legacies staying around far too long.

The state of commentary isn't spoken about enough.

Absolutely shocking there's not 1 stand out person at the job.

Neville and Carragher commentating on Man Utd/Liverpool games shouldn't be allowed as they cannot behave themselves. Imagine the opposition fan listening to that, whilst getting beat, and they hear one of those cunts scream "GET IN!!!!", will never feel good.

A lot of the time it is like watching on opposition fan TV. Just all about how great the opposition are, how they’ll be feeling, what they’ll be trying to do. And oh, Newcastle are also playing.

I think that’s half the reason people on here always think the opposition were much better than they were.

Great shout, remember them both doing the England v Argentina game at France 98. Fucking miles better than the utter dirge on sky these days.

Got incredibly pissed off when Neville started screaming when Mbuemo scored yesterday and I wasn't bothered about who won either. Had Carragher doing it at nearly every Liverpool game too. Just not good enough for a channel that should be impartial

If someone thinks something is shite, it’s fine to say it’s shite and explain why they think it’s shite. And substandard commentary with highly bias co-comms is definitely shite.

If everybody ignored everything they considered unacceptable and just got on with their lives sucking up the shite being dished out, then the Nazi’s would have taken over the world.
