How patronising was clapping their goal  I didn’t join in, felt it was shan on them

Its an old tradition in European comps so thought it a pleasant surprise. We did it against Antwerp.

*Used to clap teams off too, but fans don't even clap their own teams off now

As was the 'ole' to every pass at one point

I did enjoy them bouncing around up in the gods mind, looked like they still enjoyed themselves.

What sort of serious questions ?

Would you rather be an unhappy human or a happy dog?

That’s my personal favourite when it comes to philosophical debate.

Does the dog have 2 cocks?

Hard to judge anyone after a game like that, it was a glorified friendly.

Wont stop the pitchforks coming out for certain players.

Stick 1 in Wissa and get him on the barbie. We'll feast for a week.

That was without a doubt the worst game of football I have ever been to, they were trash and as soon as we went 2-0 up we got super complacent (understandably) and started playing as badly as they were, cue 80 minutes of both teams repeatedly giving the ball to each other and us rolling it around at the back. All understandable but I'm very dissapointed to have spent £70 on that. Stadium was like a funeral home as well, I've never been able to hear the players clearly on the pitch before. I was middle of the East stand and had people around me talking about other games, how the seasons gone and how work was going and holidays and stuff. Definitely should have stayed home! Glad we're through but crikey that was a poor experience!

Were the there tonight? The atmosphere was exactly like the Sela cup games I've been to the last couple of years but less kids. I've probably not been to as many games as some people, I didn't go much at all during the Ashley era and I was a student till 2004 so couldn't really afford it unless my dad took me when I was younger than that. I've probably been to maybe 40 total over the years? I've never seen an atmosphere like that outside of friendlies. Like I say, I understand why it was bad it but it wasn't fun to be at.

Perfectly reasonable not to be happy being charged £70 for any game of football tbf - though I don’t think I’d have expected much performance- or atmosphere-wise after the first leg.  Qarabag are as poor as any side I’ve seen us play in European competition over the years.

Each to their own. Was an unusual night but probably not as flat as I expected. Had some decent laughs in and around me and overall it was fairly entertaining football. Just gotta try and enjoy the relaxed nature of nights like tonight - it's part of being a good side.

I think we all know what we were getting into. Turn up because you have to, hopefully see some goals or young players, go home. Not sure what kind of atmosphere could possibly have been created.

I guess I'm naive then, I don't want to be too negative because like I say job done and I'm happy we're through but it was much worse than I expected, I was hoping for a bit of effort and to get the crowd going a bit and maybe for a bit of a sing as well. Whole thing was my first bad St James' experience and I've seen us get beat there as well as win so it's not been all roses previously, but I've never gone home wishing I'd just stayed home before. You could literally hear the players talking to each other on the pitch, with 50,000 fans there! Maybe other people expected that but I certainly didn't.

Know its rare now but all of that is completely standard stuff for a second-leg dead rubber.

Even In the Keegan era before the drop off in atmospheres everywhere it was no different against Antwerp and Bristol City. Most clubs would play it out in a half-empty stadium.

In theory you're right, I just know we need events on the pitch to motivate the fans at SJP. The events in the game usually come before the atmosphere.

For me tonight was the night to sing every players name and give them all independent and collective vocal backing, to kind of appreciate their efforts more than anything. That didn't really transpire but nor did I expect it to. Sadly football crowds are very much "entertain me" rather than "encourage them" nowadays.
