One option has a chance of getting out man, the other doesn't. Is saving time worth more than getting the player we're after?

In that situation, most people hold out. But if that isn’t what you’re hearing, you accept the £80k offer. If he waits and takes his time, then you have to let him go and cut the story short as soon as possible, because it means he doesn't want to come here. Once he stalls.. we actively pursue other options. We can leave the deal on the table if we want. But we open concrete negotiations with other players and teams. He didn't even stall significantly by all reports. He reasonably asked for 24-hours. It's not rocket-science.
AyeDubbleYoo Posted Thursday at 10:49 Share Posted Thursday at 10:49 Time is important, price is important. It’s better to do something quicker than slower, it’s better to get a cheaper deal than more expensive. The judgement is more about how important and/or whether it’s a key factor in the outcome. r0cafella Posted Thursday at 10:49 Share Posted Thursday at 10:49 @Minhosa premise is all about filtering ultimately, although I think regardless of timeline he goes to the Scouse, with proper processes as minhosa suggested we don't waste 3 weeks here and we've moved on. We've ended up in the worst of all worlds again, a public pursuit with no player and being roundly mocked

No it doesn’t. There’s loads of perfectly viable reasons why he might say he’s taking his time. And then he still ends up signing for NUFC. NUFC just need to try and suss out if he’s buying time to talk to another club who have more prestige and can pay higher wages. And if that’s what’s happening, then expect to be gazumped and move on. Don't need an internal investigation to determine that Liverpool have more pull or that our advanced interest was leaked to Fab to summon Liverpool, for fuck's sake. That should be blindingly obvious given the events of last summer. Just accept it, move on, and slap in a bid for Fernandez-Pardo so that we can enjoy life for a few days again before Chelsea sign him. Who said it was internal? Maybe they are trying to contact the agent and he’s not returning our calls currently.

We don't have to walk away but we will know where he stands. He's waiting for a better offer and we move accordingly. I had no issue with the Reims-Etikite transfer. We knew early doors the lad was waiting for PSG and we would've started working earnestly on other targets. No issues with that approach - we did everything right but the player knew Campos was set to join PSG and wanted to bring him there. We would've known that too when he started stalling. In this case, the lad didn't stall. Edited Thursday at 11:00 by The College Dropout

Feels exactly like last season where we have to wait until every cartel club has finished swooping in for our main targets, then picking up the leftovers. We even do all their contract negotiations for them.

That's why we pay the sports director to do his job. We saw in the case of Wissa that we have room for maneuver in terms of weekly salaries (more than 140k per week + bonus). If we keep spending that much, it will always end up the same. We saw this last summer, I thought we learned from it. If he is such a great talent, then we should have moved faster and more seriously. This is just stalling and smearing. If we make an attractive offer and he asks for a deferral, then there is nothing to talk about, we have to leave it there. Hall can also play on the wing, very well. Apart from the player saying yes to LFC and no to NUFC you don’t know what was said by anyone who was involved in this transfer to anyone who was involved in this transfer. Naturally, I’ll offer my apologies in advance if you were on the inside and have a job that gets you involved with transfer negotiations at LFC, NUFC or as a football agent involved in this deal.
