Offshore
I think Huntington and Edgar should go for a season-long loan to a Championship team next season, will do them the world of good. It's great to see the academy finally starting to pay dividends - after 10 years where it only produced Aaron Hughes and Shola Ameobi, it's churning out promising youngsters by the bucket-load now. Now, if only we can get anything other than central defenders to come through the academy... Yep, that's a canny idea, would probably bring them on more than a season of our reserves/bench, both in terms of football and taking them out of the glare of the 'fishbowl'. Guest Ridzuan
One thing for sure,Edgar is much much better playing in the LB position as compared to Babayaro.I think Huntington has done well too considering they are not that ready yet for the big stage. It shows that we have some good young talents coming in from the academy. Guest clarkyshan
Now, if only we can get anything other than central defenders to come through the academy... Pattison isn't a CD. Now there is a player that hasn't impressed me at all.
James
If you think about it, before he appeared, Edgar was our 11th choice defender.

Does anyone know anything about how Frank Wiafe Danquah is coming along? I've heard we signed him from Ajax, born in 1991 and trained with the senior squad all summer.. binnsy
I've only seen Frank Wiafe Danquah once and he was shockingly bad, got his chance when the club permantly promoted Carroll out of the Academy side into the reserve/first team squad. We have plenty of other good prospects at the club, as people have already said the likes of kazenga(only 15) looks an excellent prospect and we have the likes of Pattison, AOB, Carroll, troisi already in and around the first team. Their's a young lad called Bertram who only looks about 12 playing right back for the reserves and he has played well this season and although another centre half i was very impressed when i saw callum morris play for the reserves a few weeks back when either Hunty or edgar were injured. The youth cup tie against Norwich is at SJP next week, get yourselves along and see for yourself who we have got coming through, one thing you will notice is that we seem to specialise in small players!! The likes of Donninger, Cavener, Godsmark, Bertram, marwood may all need to have to have a growth spurt if they want to fulfill there potential and make it at the top level. Sima
Can't believe some people are wanking over a defence that managed to let Man Utd have a chance from every single corner. If it wasn't being headed by a Man Utd player it was going right across the face of goal. EVERY FUCKING TIME MAN, hence 2 goalline clearances, countless free headers. Oh and don't even get me started on how much space Rooney seemed to find between the two morons in the middle. Absolute miracle how they didn't score more. Honestly man, wanking over a defence that shipped three goals to Everton on Saturday

I think its fair to point out that what people are comlimenting is the raw talent of such young players. There may be alot of tuning need done but the lads have shown more commitment and talent than Carr, Babayaro and Bramble have done for at least 2 seasons. iklgizmo
i always thought edgar was older than he is cos he has been around for so long. I thought he was mid 20s and just was never gona make it through to the 1st team. Looks good though, just wonder what will happen when everyone is fit and we (hopefully) buy some more defenders

ChezGiven
Edgar gave the ball away a few times, got away with a couple of howlers and mis-kicked out of defence at least twice, he also did a lot right and scored a goal. Good lad.
PM
So was Huntington-Edgar the regular partnership in the reserves then? Paul Mosley/NSG? Yeah, they were the pairing for the vast majority of last season, and the start of this.

Superior Acuña
I'm impressed with Edgar, think he could really come good. Huntington's doing a job too, but have doubts about him really coming good enough. Edgar almost blew it at the end >.< He allowed JSP through - it was his fault.
