There are far more people previously associated with NUFC who deserve a statue more than Sir Bobby, people like Alan Shearer, Joe Harvey, even Hughie Gallacher and Kevin Keegan who all achieved or did more for NUFC than Bobby. But Bobby transcends above all those in terms of what he means to the city, region and its people and therefore does deserve a statue. And where more fitting than at St. Jame's Park, the home of Newcastle United, the club that can be argued, created Sir Bobby. One of our region's greatest people and one of our nation's best exports in terms of succeeding abroad and in such a contested area too. Bobby may not be at the top of the all-time NUFC legends list but he must surely be at the top of the all-time greatest Geordie to have lived list.

Disagree with a Robson statue, he has the garden that is surely enough. Way more deserving than him through the clubs history despite the good memories/causes attached to him. Although HTT puts forward a strong case it has a whiff of pandering to the masses about it although I might just be being cynical.

4 statues in the 4 corners would be class (and even then I'd not have him).

No chance of a Shearer/KK statue under the current regime though.

It's a lovely gesture for a lovely bloke. Bobby was an absolute diamond but I'd prefer other people to get a statue before him, namely Joe Harvey.

Got no problem with the club putting it up at all but the contributions to NUFC of other people need to be recognised too. Looking forward to seeing it. :)

Great gesture

Well done the club. Sir Bobby resonates with football globally, not just locally.

Very well put.

It doesn't really matter who did more or less for NUFC etc. As HTT says, Sir Bobby is a legend and a great man and it's absolutely fitting to recognise him like this.

aye but given the positioning of the milburn statue, one on each corner would be great, i don't mind adding robson to milburn, harvey and veitch.

Apparently someone has wrote St James' Park on the wall again, getting ridiculous now, was good the first time when the news was raw but just makes us look like a bit of a joke now

I pretty much think the opposite of what you just said.

Apparently some one has wrote St James' Park on the wall again, It's not getting ridiculous now, was bad the first time when the news was raw, it makes us look serious now. Something like that ?

It makes us look like a bunch of morons. Only the club themselves and the media (intermittently) refer to it as the SDA, everyone else still calls it SJP. Time to just let it go, will always be referred to as SJP.

It's on Google Maps now as The Sports Direct Arena as well. :(

There'll be someone scrawling 'st James' park' in permanent marker on their monitor screen now.
