With regard to Strawberry place, I believe changes were submitted by the developer Reditum earlier this year that are still pending consideration by the council, hence the delay. Was kind of hoping NUFC had maybe thrown a spanner in the works

 

It seems only one building (building D) stops theoretical expansion of the gallowgate end, and it seems its been strategically placed to avoid the metro line underneath.

Aye got tickets through work for Spurs v Man City when it first opened and I was in awe at it. Incredible stadium.

We’ll have to sit it out with the unpopular kids - I’m with you on this one.  I like old-fashioned higgeldy-piggeldy grounds, ones with four unique stands which have clearly not been built at the same time.  Don’t like the clinical nature of the American-style stadiums.  New Wembley is shite too.

I remember when this was 1st built. There was documentary on it. They brought in the architect and he was disappointed as he wanted the support beams alongside the escalator to be in perfect line so that when you went down the escalator, you could only see one support beam. The engineers did not get it correct and you could see all the support beams behind each other.

Just a shame they didn't take into consideration the 1000s of fans who would be in the lower tiers when designing the roof leaving them all open to the elements.

Also the two times I’ve been I found the concourse in the away end quite small and claustrophobic. Wasn’t as spacious as I was expected including toilets etc.

 

The seating area however looks very impressive and love the technology and adaptability for other sports etc.

The new wembley is shit, like the rest of London. These new stadiums are a lot like bars they refurbish and turn them into cocktail bars for pricks. No, I preferred it when it was shit, with carpets from the 70s and an old fashioned foot rest at the bar.

Didn’t a company owned by Ashley buy the land near St James Metro from NUFC? It’s currently a car park.

Now, it looks like the development on the St James' Park Metro Station Car Park Site is definitely going ahead.

 

However, on Skyscraper City there is a new report that "Block D" has been taken out of the four-block scheme. I think that some kind of financial arrangement may have been recently made . . .

its a long long story..............

 

Ashley bought it from the club (paid 3.5m) as a private venture away from football to get his fat foot into property development. He hired Tolent to do the development work then changed his mind -this was likely when NUST was taking him to court and he got annoyed

In some sly scheme he sold the land to 'another' one of his businesses that was controlled by his son in law - but pocketed the cash 

The land was then sold on again to developers that were bought out by other developers that then went bust, and a company called Reditum capital picked up the project (just as our owners were getting their feet under the table a preoccupied by Steve Bruce and relegation) 

 

As everyone knows, the strawberry place land is just another example of asset stripping. In theory the man literally came in, raped us for 15 years and then wiped his cock on the curtain on the way out

if this is true it's massive news

 

Block D is the only building that threatens outward expansion of the Gallowgate. Situation is not perfect but not impossible like the original plans. As for the new bobby robson memorial position.....how about a big massive stand named after him instead?

I was thinking about that having to have been some sort of sponsorship. After the first 'tier' there was some Newcastle breweries panelling as I recall.

Cant remember when it just dispersed but the sponsorship angle is food for thought.
