Going to be fucking heartbreaking watching the bulldozers move into SJP even though a new stadium would be my choice too.

In order to evolve we will have to settle for tough decisions, generations will have felt similar in times gone by, the future of this club is huge, and can be grown into something remarkable.

 

You'd like to think if the Saudis are behind a new stadium design it's going to be on a different level, lots of their architecture/structures are magnificent.

 

I'd like to think somehow the current SJP could be developed into something connecting, or used as the womens stadium?

 

No idea, just be gutted to see it flattened.

It definitely is the plan. Tonight looked pretty clearly about seeking permission to go for it. They're obviously nervous about the reaction so they're doing their best to make it go well.

 

It's good that they're nervous, mind - we should be doing all we can to use that and make sure the result is top class in every way.

Absolutely it has to beat in the world and without compromise as they have stated that's what the ambition is. 

 

I'm hoping this is precisely what they do and it's a starting point to transforming the region.

Seattle, not sure what it changed its name to but always seemed a good atmosphere in the heart of the city.

 

No brainer for a new stadium said it from the start you can’t have a best in class facility with the East Stand restrictions, even then the Milburn and Leazes are so badly designed and not fit for purpose anymore.

Just please incorporate a massive safe standing section behind one end. And design the acoustics right; everything else should be secondary to the atmosphere which directly impacts the team on the pitch.

Somewhere like shiremoor would be agood place for the new stadium. Just off A19.  Has its own metro station. Plenty of land nearby for parking.

Yeah, the lot more seats bit give you an indication on capacity. Let’s assume a SJP renovation gives us the minimum of a 60k capacity. A lot more seats really does look like we would be aiming for at least an 80k capacity stadium.

I really think we are talking Castle Leazes, with a little encroachment on Leazes Park here.

 

If it wasn’t for the fact that Dolly would now be outside the SOL gaining signatures against it, then I think they would have told us last night that this is where it’s going to be. Right now though they need to be crossing the T’s, and dotting the I’s and make sure everyone, even politically the will to do it.

The way they actually said it though made it seem like it was close, very close, I think outside of those quotations, they actually said that as well. They certainly gave the impression that it was.

If we take them at their word they haven't even decided what to do yet nevermind where an new ground will be. 

 

A lot of hurdles and obstacles to clear before we are that far along.

If that stat about earning more than twice as much in terms of revenue is correct, the decision has been made already. By the latest accounts that's an extra £40m+. 

 

The question now is where and really Leazes area is the only option isn't it? I'm assuming most people voting for a new stadium are assuming it's either there or somewhere else close by so if they go outside the city there's going to be considerable backlash.

Given time does not seem a huge priority the next step could be we’ve decided new stadium and are going for Leases park.  Then they start working with the council.  Plans can be drawn up for the actual stadium that will no doubt look fantastic. This gets people minds softened on moving.  If Leases park cannot be done they look slightly further.  That way the club are not the bad guys the council is.  Fans will have fallen in love with the idea and stadium so what’s an extra 10/15 minute walk…

Why not Hunters Moor? Part of Town Moor but other side of the A167. And as Nuns Moor (North) has the Newcastle United Golf club on it, the Freemen may be open to selling/allowing a new stadium to be built on it.

I just can't see it being Castle Leazes/Leazes Park so for me that's the next best option. Mile and a half outside of the city centre.
