Honestly, having seen the numbers in pubs and in stack, on a match day, it’s just as busy as they ever have been. Can’t vouch for non match days like.

The only time I have been in the Stack has been on a Sunday. Once was when I was awaiting the Champions League patch to be applied to my shirt, the other was for the Wor Flags events.

There was good numbers in the Stack on both occasions, but if you tell me that those people will be going in to town on a Sunday to day drink on those levels without the Stack, and without a match being on, then you’re a fucking liar.

Used to work in the pub trade and mates who still do, one is the manager of Rosies and the other the Crows. Rosies has seen an uptick in trade as people go in before and after, Crows has seen a slight drop but believe that is more to do with Weatherspoons taking over the uni bar

They will be complaining about the bars in the ground next

Barry Ladhar doesn't seem to understand that the people have free will to choose where they'd like to go.

Quite funny that, considering I've been past Lady Greys a number of times, and every single time its jammed and spilling onto the street...

I'd like to see any evidence to say it has attracted regular punters from his gaff to the Stack.  The Clientele are quite different.

As a football fan, neither of those are places where I would go.

If I was in town having a few drinks with a partner, or like when my dad, and my stepmam met me, my sister, and brother-in-law in Newcastle yes, but on a match day? No.

I’m going to hazard a guess that most of the people in those places would prefer it if football fans didn’t go in as well.

Lady Grey’s is always busy match day. As for Pleased To Meet You I can’t say. Not as if either have a particular USP and aren’t exactly cheap so not competing in anyway. People will always prefer to drink outside if dry and warm enough if the atmosphere is nice which in fairness always seems decent the small few times I’ve been in the Stack.

He also doesnt seem to understand that people dont want fancy gin bars on a saturday matchday

And they charge a fortune, maybe if he dropped his prices people would go more often

Honestly hope this is shot down at the earliest opportunity. Surely the whole idea is we want to encourage investment and new venues in the area, not to mention the new stadium. This sort of nonsense can fuck off and whoever is plugging it like that pleased to meet you lot should be boycotted by NUFC fans to put them back in their place.

Why is any one random bar more or less important than any other? Load of crap, people can go where they want and if you can’t run a profitable business then you close. Stack can’t hold enough people to drive 100 bars out of business

Capitalists really are the worst. Amazed there is even any legal channel for this absolute nonsense.

"Erosion of income" and "trade being diverted" is not quite the same as business being put at risk.  I would have more sympathy if this was coming from a publican with a single boozer, but the likes of the Vaulkhard, Malhotra and Ladhar groups have substantial portfolios of property and leisure which will still likely be making a very healthy profit overall, despite The Stack drawing on a percentage of their trade.

My matchday routine hasn't changed in about 15 years tbf

Sometimes we will pop into Stack but not until much later when you can just walk in. I always though Stack would be full of people without tickets/families more than out else.

Also whilst we're at it, the pint quality - whilst always been pretty much universally shite - has dropped significantly in the city.
