The longer this has gone on I think the initial emotional response about leaving SJP has waned a bit. Would I be right in thinking the vast majority want a new build?

A new stadium that’s truly multi purpose is a no brainer. Also don’t see why the capacity numbers are so conservative. They’ll have the data on how many supporters are trying to get tickets. Refuse to believe it’s only 13k more than our current capacity.

The question really is, just how long term is PIF’s “long term commitment”? The longer no decision is made, doubts will creep in.

Tbh if a new stadium is really the preferred choice, then it would suggest they are in it for the really long term. It would make their frustratingly slow decision making a bit more palatable IMO. I could live with it if I know they want the best of the best in all departments.

That’s partly why I’m not overly fussed with timescales at this point, as the one thing we do know about PIF is that the architecture structures are ambitious.

Lifting atmosphere so far.

Not there today but unfortunately early k.os Sundays are always lifting, I watched Leeds v Spurs Chelsea v Liverpool yesterday and both really poor and my mate who's season ticket holder at Old Trafford said yesterday was lifting, way it is it seems nowadays apart from certain games.

That being said I'd like to see some development at St James park and increase standing as this new ground seems years away.

Nothing huge and I'm sure others will have heard similar, but heard today that the Freemen of Newcastle are in favour of a new stadium.

We will always be. Said that since the discussions began. We were in the late 90’s. No reason to think anything would change.

Who the hell are the freeman of Newcastle and why do they matter? [emoji38]

A group of people from a long long time ago. They clubbed together to have some land in Newcastle of which they are allowed to grave their cattle on, and for the benefit of the citizens of Newcastle.

The land they own is massive, you are talking the same amount of land as there is in the city centre. They own the Town Moor, Exhibition Park, Nuns Moor, Castle Leazes, and Leazes Park including the land that SJP sits upon.

The only way to become a full Freeman, is through hereditary privledge.

The people who defended the City walls hence why we still have a Newcastle

Want to ask me one about the Romans?

I was a Freeman I’d sell all that land and then sit on my lazy arse somewhere luxurious where it’s sunny all year round drinking margaritas and smoking fat doobies until I shuffled off this mortal coil

Fuck the cows

Ok great. So what does it matter if they favour a new stadium?

They decide what can or can’t happen on the huge swathes of grassy green grazing land close to St James Park where a shiny new stadium would fit perfectly

The land the club needs/likely wants for the new stadium is the Freeman’s. The land the current stadium on is also the Freeman’s

And would that land be leased off rather than sold (hypothetically) if the choice ends up being a new stadium?

How long was the lease for the land SJP is situated on?

Very likely a lease, but a very long lease.

Yes or possibly swapped but wouldn’t be handed over for sure. One of the Freeman’s main incomes is the current rent paid by NUFC.

99 year off the top of my head the standard in the UK.

Was going to wind you lot up. But they are looking at 65k if we stay at SJP and 80k if we leave.

Obviously it could change but the aim is 80k if we move.

Hopefully that pleases some people on here.
