I know they've got the Bridges but Eldon Square is nearer to SJP than the Bridges is to the SoL.

 

SoS definitely doesn't feel like it's in the city centre because all the other city centre stuff is on the other side of the river. It feels like it's in the sort of place you find wasteland, small industrial units and Daewoo showrooms.

Nah, the area of the current SJP footprint wants turned into a nice park to actually enhance the city rather than having just another shit commercial area.

Aye, but if it's a choice between making the city a bit better or slinging a few quid at the football club I think we have to side with the city.

 

Plenty of other commercial opportunities for NUFC but actually making Newcastle a nicer place and enhancing the setting of the fine architecture our city displays doesn't come along every day.

 

Besides, the brochure would have nice places, decent restaurants and a spotlessly maintained environment but the real thing would be a burger king, a Greggs, a Nando's and a Mc'Ds with a Wetherspoons and would be a shithole 5 minutes after it opened.

Suppose there would be arguments for either, would be nice to actually see some sort of plan / proposal then we can all get our knickers in a twist

Opening up Leazes Terrace with a park maintained by the club should be one of the selling points to get the whole city on board, not just football fans. They’ve got the land at the metro station to put something commercial in place.

 

If the club get greedy and want to put buildings on the SJP footprint, I think it’s the wrong move. A new well maintained park in the city centre would be a great addition.

The only issue is that if they place a fan park right next to SJP, they could argue that it is the same address and therefor 3pm home KO’s can be screened.

Doing so on the current Sela site doesn’t allow for this. Obviously I think we would have to handover the Sela site and landscape it so it has a park feel to it.

I was in there for the Liverpool game last season. Atmosphere was excellent.

Moved up to level 7 standing from Leazes west, 3 of my mates are up there from old family enclosure days, so means we are together. Hopefully atmosphere will be improved, also I'm suffering with bad back these days, standing is actually better so looking forward to not being in pain for 90 mins lol.

 

I didn't bother asking if strawberry corner has seats as presumed if any they would of went yesterday.

I know you say a couple of minutes, but is it literally just that? I’ve got an appointment booked for later, but I’m in Asia with £3 per minute phone call the only option. I gave them 8 blocks I’d be happy with a single seat in and just asked to be told over email, but no can do.
