Whole point of safe standing is to not pack the stands like thry used to and control the numbers. Not sure why you'd give up a seat to stand all game, but then again I'm 45 tomorrow and the body struggles going for a piss (usually 3 times) in the middle of the night! 😂

I stopped going in the standing sections when I was like 18 mind Germany have a 1.5 or 2:1 ratio for league games. That are then replaced to 1:1 for European games. Not sure why that can’t be fought for at government level.

I stopped going in the standing sections when I was like 18 mind It's a really touchy subject in the UK due to hooliganism and disasters. The UK still has deep scars and standing terraces are thought ill upon. 1:1 is the best you'll get here, even that's been a 20 year battle.

There’s been plenty of studies done, but the end result is it’s what we all know from experience. People sit down and they will behave like a spectator, people stand up and they will behave like a supporter. There’s many sociological, psychological and physiological reasons why this happens. Same reasons the standing areas of gigs are a more immersive experience than sitting down. Edited May 28 by bobbydazzla
AyeDubbleYoo
I could never imagine watching music sitting down but I don't mind so much at football. I do like to sing but I also like to sit back and cerebrally analyse the formations, tactics and movement patterns playing out. When I'm not watching Newcastle that is Edited May 28 by AyeDubbleYoo
Drewboy74
Used to love standing in the Gallowgate scoreboard and the Milburn paddocks. Sitting down is one of the reasons I don't go to the matches anymore. It just doesn't feel as tribal as it should. Being told to stop calling the ref a cunt because there's "wimmin here y'na" is another reason.

Remember hearing splashing sounds at half time in the gallowgate (Scoreboard area) I must have been 12/13 years old Realised 30 seconds later someone was slashing behind one of the concrete barriers and piss rolling down the steps

I got pulled for swearing by a steward during the Brighton game, after a fair few of us got an email about a foul language complaint after the mackems game ffs. Just the odd "F off" aswell, nothing you don't hear on the street, ridiculous really.

I remember going as a kid with my mam and she was just as bad also remember her telling me 'just divnt repeat what you hear at the match', which is something I've said to my daughter a few times, it's part of going to the match if you ask me. Haha aye, at Brighton away this year I apologised to the bloke standing two spaces along from me because my language was shocking, this was only about 5 minutes in although I must have had about 6 pints. His kid is stood on the chair between us and he just goes "it's alright mate, he can say what he likes at the match" - 2 minutes later this lad who must have been about 8 year old is giving it the "Fuck off Isak you're a daft cunt now" Got a mate who takes his kid to Glastonbury whenever it's on and he has a similar policy, sure the youngun only likes going because he can swear his head off for the few days!
