The Asian lads and lasses at non London grounds are inevitably students btw, especially City. Fair play to them if they’re getting stuck into their new local team and getting involved. Manchester has one of the biggest international student markets in the UK and from personal experience I know loads of the international students studying up here like to get to a game if they can.

When I was in China I was a regular at Guizhou Renhe. I was warmly welcomed and even got a fairwell tab from the lead ultra when I said it was my last game. Like to think we're welcoming any adopted geordies getting stuck in. (Less keen on trying to attract tourists)

As a foreign fuck I have to say I always feel very welcome in Newcastle.

Except maybe after the Milan CL game where I was interrogated by a local knuckledragger who wanted to know all matches I had been attending at SJP before the takeover, luckily I passed the test😂

I got accused of being a Liverpool fan earlier this season, guess I wasn’t going mental enough for the bloke next to me.

Reminds me of a story my Dad tells about when, soon after moving to Newcastle, he took a friend from Leeds to see us play Bastia in the UEFA cup in 77.

We apparently got torn apart by Johnny Rep and lost 1-3. After the match they were approached by a kid who asked for a tab, my Dad's friend said "sorry I don't smoke" the kid, hearing his (Yorkshire) accent, responded "you're from fuckin' Bastia aren't ya" [emoji38]

I live in country Durham and haven't been to a match for a few years, will I have to take a test or apply for a permit before my next visit, I am happy to dig out my 80's home kit that I had when I was about 7 if that helps?.

Has anyone ever used the Wings hospitality?

feel like it’s my best chance of attending a game, but at £400+ for Fulham at home it feels pricey

I can get you a ticket next time I am buying one if you link your membership.  Pretty much guaranteed if you get desperate.

Exactly. Believe me the last thing you want is going down the US rabbit hole.

Bit overstretching going on here don’t think anyone is against new fans and building a wall around NE1, however the atmosphere and culture of the club needs to be protected.

It’s very much up to the club to strike a balance that allows new fans to grow the brand, if those new fans want to come and sing even better, create an enclosure that allows like minded people to stand together, but it’s very reasonable to not want the Gallowgate full of football tourists who don’t even get up to celebrate a goal and gawk through a camera lens the full 90 mins.

How to be a good "tourist" fan. Regardless of where in the UK or world you have travelled from:

1 - don't constantly film on your phone

2 - do get involved in cheering on the home team

3 - don't go in the home stands thinking you can support the away team

4 - don't constantly wave the national flag of the player from your home country that you've travelled to see play*

*(N.B. If you're a stunning Brasilian beauty who's travelled to Newcastle to watch Bruno or Joelinton, then you are exempt from this one and also entitled to a free no-jarmy sleepover at mine after the game)

Stick to Bobbydazzla's Four Commandments for Acceptable Touristic Football Fans and you'll have no bother, mark my words

Point 3 should result in a good shoeing regardless if they’re a tourist, the day opposition fans sit side by side  it’ll be truly Americanised and no way back.

3. Never bothers me. Even when I was younger. Never understood why there should be aggression or violence amongst fans. Think it had something to do with me getting arrested in the leazes end by the police when Benny Christian scored after 3mins against Stoke City (think?!) for making masturbational gestures to the away fans! Learnt my lesson early

Whilst I agree in principle, someone who's been watching sports in integrated stadiums might be unaware that you can't shout HURRAH ! if you're in the home end and the away team score

But if it's someone who understands the dynamics of segregated stadiums, then yes, they deserve a good shoeing and being dragged out of the stadium by their ankles

I mean what I said was that there was people largely from an Asian demographic who were not attending games, but waiting outside the players entrance after games against the top 6 for signatures from their players.

I’ve said the club should be telling them that away players will not sign autographs.

I also believe that those who want autographs from NUFC players, they should wait until the area is cleared before queueing for autographs, not standing in the way of fans leaving the ground.

We all know that we’ll get tourist fans, it’s the nature of being a Premier League club, and also for where our aspirations will take us. What I do think though, is that as well as accommodating them, the club should be looking to accommodate fans who can’t get in now. If we go to an 80k seater stadium, then surely having 20k additional season ticket holders (based on about 35k now), soem for game by game sale, some for local causes/concessions, obviously the increased away fan allocation, and then some for tourists.

An 80k capacity should be able to eat into a lot of demand for all areas.

I’m sorry like, but theirs a lot of emotion into football compared to other sports. On top of this, it’s not like the NFL where teams by a rule of thumb are hundreds if not thousands of miles away from each other, so you don’t get that anticipation charge built up.

I mean, let’s be honest, no one should be getting abused or attacked for the team they support, but the segregation of fans does add to the atmosphere.

Additionally, how am I supposed to start getting a chant going if a group of Irish tourists have bought all the tickets around me to cheer on Liverpool who we are playing?

You want a Man Utd signature, go to Carrington and get one.

Don’t stand in the way of people trying to leave SJP in Newcastle trying to get one.

SJP should be a fortress, and that includes little things like not accommodating away fans above what is generally required, and not inconveniencing our fans.

Also have you tried to get out of the stadium in that area? It’s crammed, imagine parking a truck on the road leading out of it, because that’s essentially what you are doing.

A huge part of what makes atmospheres in English football good (for some part) and unique is the tribalism and fan segregation imo. Obviously within reason. If football crowds went the way of rugby, utter WOKE nonsense.
