Dave
So go on then, let's say they propose to change the name of the club. They say they're ahead of the game. Everyone will be doing it in a few years time, and it'll bring in untold amounts of money; perhaps even £20m per season. Would that be acceptable to you? Where do you draw the line? Dokko
Would you accept changing the name of the club altogether for a price? Sports Direct United. Just a hypothetical question. No, nor a club move or a colour change. These are things that will really effect the fanbase which in turn effects sales and therefore something Ashley will never consider doing. Mick
Disagree, depending on the price. Can accept the re-branding for the £10m a year they think they will get, that extra money will make a big difference in the end, £100m over a decade, that's Ashley paid off, or some good players and/or more room for wages. £35 million got us free transfers. Carlito
Another thing that annoys me is that they make these decisions without consulting the fans in any shape or form beforehand. They're just coming across as lying cunts who will no doubt piss on our history and culture again in the future, regardless of how well we're doing. What good is becoming successful if we have to sell our history and our character? We may as well go and support a Man City or Utd, because eventually our club will probably not be the one we've known and loved if MA stays in charge. cp40
i dont accept we need this money, why not pay the players a little less and keep the name. teh whole financial problems with football, is because the players are paid more than the clubs can afford. Because football dosnt work that way It will have to in Glasgow from Now.

How does it affect the fanbase any more? The team on the pitch can still win games, they'd just be 'officially' called something different. They'd still be Newcastle United and everyone would still call them that. It's exactly the same argument.

Guest bimpy474
You have to have the FA's permission to change a teams name, and i think if i recall when Leyton Orient did it, changing from just to Orient, the FA took the Leyton Orient fans views into consideration. Dokko
Total Network Solutions. Red Bull Salzburg. TNS have been professional since 1990. RBS has a history of going under & selling its name, its why its still around. Also the breakaway group who didn't want to support it have a stadium sponsor like us. Austrian FA allowed that, its whether our FA would allow it, if our FA indicated yes, that would be a massive worry with this bloke in charge. Like many other I wouldn't support the club if it were called something else, unless the club went in to administration and came back under a different brand, its understandable then. Guest sicko2ndbest
There is no way they would change the name! It would lose him money. NUFC as a brand is as strong as any barring the top 4/5. Spurs fans were having the same arguments about the Olympic stadium and changing the history etc I ask you a question would you be against a stadium move if it was on the cards? What about the history? This is our home? I won't set foot in the new stadium! I can see the same regressive arguments
Doctor Zaius
The man deserves nothing but praise. Got more balls than the lot of you combined so you sit behind your keyboards and make fun of him. Is this RTG or newcastle-online? Should be people making him into a hero, not this s****. And they call us the best fans in the land, and we can't even support our own. Agree with that tbh. Sadly though, this forum has got so shit, and devoid of any craic what so ever, rather than folk argue their point all you'll get is a few meme's flung in your direction. Boring man. Its only stupid financially if you can't manage the PR, otherwise the potential benefits are huge - 100% profit on something? Yes please from a business perspective.
