Interpolic
Aye, never saw the point of hiding this statue away where not a lot of people would see it, good stuff.
RR15
Might stick a black and white scarf on him for the city game.
Guest ObiChrisKenobi
That statue has covered more ground in the last 10 years than Shola has. (I love you really Shola).
AyeDubbleYoo
When was he moved in the first place? Can't remember at all.
Guest ObiChrisKenobi
Not sure, be more than 10 years ago though. Remember him being on Northumberland Street. It was moved from its original location in the city's Northumberland Street in 1999 after being unveiled eight years earlier by Mr Milburn's wife Laura. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-17262798
Anderson
There's been two in Newcastle plus one in Ashington, this is the one which started on Northumberland Street. In fact does anyone know why there was a different statue commissioned in 1996 for the stadium (and why it was then removed a couple years later) when they could've just moved this one? BottledDog
He started life in front of McDees on Northumberland street...didn't he? Yup. Was great there as well, but think the ball kept getting nicked?

Anyway, outside the ground is the best place for him. Just need a Shola to go alongside.
pedro111
Absolute disgrace where he has been located for the last few years. Bout time he was moved tbh.

The statue has become the talking point of many a fan, especially when two years after its unveiling, a police hunt was launched when Jackie’s bronze football went missing. But initial reports of it being stolen were soon quashed when Newcastle City Council revealed it had removed the ball to get it repaired.
Ocho
Anyway, outside the ground is the best place for him. Just need a Shola to go alongside. Preferably in this pose... http://www2.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Shola+Ameobi+Newcastle+United+v+Wolverhampton+Gq5HuZfFbz8l.jpg

Struggling to imagine what repairs needed to be made to a solid bronze ball mind.
TheGuv
http://www.nufc.com/advent2011/2011-advent-10.html This explains it all. The old bronze statue was bought. Very interesting

Stifler
It has actually been relocated across the road from the strawberry in front of the bushes in-between the two sets of stairs leading up to the Gallowgate. http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost.php?p=90716172&postcount=
