I'm sure a week or two back some were criticising Enrique for staying quiet.

There's a professional way to do things and an unprofessional way. But then you knew that.

Fair enough. Don't particularly see what difference it would have made if he'd said the same stuff in a formal statement though.

But if you just submit a transfer request that will suffice.

If he submits a transfer request he will presumably lose any loyalty bonus his contract stipulates. Why would/should he do that?

Jose Enrique is speaking the truth.

Seems most of our "core" players have said it already and im not shocked.

Very worrying. praying for us to be sold.

we're not going to compete for anything else than survival/midtable with mike ashley here.

Now he has said that a tweet from another account was not him, but he agrees with some of it.

Not quite sure wtf is going on or if the translation is on the right lines

Where you reading that? His accounts been deleted on mine.

I think Enrique is reacting to the way we played last night against a team in what is basically a third world footballing nation.  We've had 35 million to invest in the squad and we're a couple of injuries away from playing like we did last night but against better teams.

We were told that money would be spent, I know that has been watered down over time but we don't know what our players were told about investment.

People who are having a go at players for having a go at the club haven't a clue what the players have been told.  I doubt so many players would have a go at the club without reason.

But neither to the people defending them, they just assume the worst because it's Ashley.

ian, in your world are people ever held accountable for their actions or do you go on giving the benefit of the doubt until the end of time? people dont assume the worst because its ashley, they assume the club will do everything on the cheap because....the club are doing everything on the cheap. at what point do you notice this all tying in? Keegan, Hughton, Pardew, Carroll, nothing spent, Enrique..........

Ian W will have no wrong said about Ashley and Pardew and as he reads this will be smashing up his bedroom in anger as he probably wont be able to smash his office up as its wrecked from last week  ;D

I should learn not to come on here unless we've signed a player. In which case Mike Ashley won't be mentioned except to say the player cost to little.

FWIW I don't like Ashley at all, but in the case of Enrique the writing was on the wall for ages. He has become good enough to play for a more successful team at the same time his contract is ending.

I just don't like players whinging about the club in public, that's all.

Thats true but you take it to the owners and manager and complain you dont tweet it and make us a laughing stock again.

The sentiment is right but the delivery of it by Jose is completely brainless, Nolan has said nothing and thats a proper pro's reaction not a spoilt childs.

Exactly. He's on his way and doesn't give a s*** about his current team mates because he's no longer going to be a part of it.

Yeah exactly, if he feels has to say it, then do it after he has left, thats his reason for leaving, doing it now leaves his manager, but more importantly his teammates in a tough spot, its selfish, dont get me wrong, i agree with him but unless he knows we will not be buying anybody else, what if we sign two or 3 more players what then(unlikely but you never know).

I was thinking more along the lines of him signing the contract, or handing in a transfer request, you know, the way things should be done. He's stooped to Ashley's levels and people are buying it purely down to their hatred of the board.

Stooped to Ashley's level? How? By actually telling the truth?

 good one.

The way he's gone about it since day one.

I know Ashley is a cunt etc etc, but every decision he makes isn't wrong by default.

well now you're just stating the obvious and i'm not sure why

Where has this reverence of the sanctity of professionalism in football come from?

Any, more pertinently, why can Ashley lie and cheat, but Enrique has to suffer in silence before releasing a few discrete words in his memoirs aged 40.

If he can change his situation now by going public, why wouldn't he?

Fair play to him for speaking his mind, I for one only wish he had done it a bit earlier. We all know that the club isn't being ran with the best of intentions/having ambition, so why should our better players want to stay? I believe if Ashley had shown a bit of ambition to push the club forwards, then Jose would more than likely stay. As it is at the moment, the intent seems to be PL survivial first and foremost with minimal squad investment as the cash continues to roll in. What is going to happen to all of this income?

As I've said before - Jose has been a great servant to the club - he didn't jump ship when others did and he sought to right the mistakes of 2008/09. I wish him well for the future. I'm just amazed after everything the ownership has done to it's fanbase that there are still many who will happily bend over for a good old buggering. When will people wake up and smell the coffee? I for one am a bit worried for next season, as we've shifted out our two top scorers (one being an influential captain) The dressing room must be on it's arse, so where are the big characters who are going to rise up and roll their sleeves up?

Would you honestly expect a 'loyalty' bonus when coming out with statements like he has tonight?

Depends what's in his contract, no? I doubt it says that he forfeits it if he slags the club off on Twitter.

The whole, "I'll wait until we're safe" thing, even after the "no capital outlay, bring players through the ranks to sell, etc" not ring any bells? He knew when he made that remark what Ashley was like, yet still played us for fools himself.

True but if he has any form of principals or morals he should forgo his loyalty bonus in the wake of this evenings events. You cannot slag your employer off and still claim to be loyal to them.

The writing may have been on the wall but the reasons for him wanting to leave are whats interesting.

Why does he feel he can't fulfill his ambition here?

Where does he think the club are going under the current ownership.

What impact have the recent sales had on morale.

All answered today and to damning effect.

Like it or not, as fans we benefit from his right to free speech, the club may not but for those few fans who seemingly think Ashley and DL are beacons of light and can do no wrong this is further evidence that they're a bunch of lying schemers with PR-dew included.

It's good that they will start to see this ownership for what they are.

Must be hard as a [layer to see your manger talking in the press, think its lies then have to work with him every day.

NO player is bigger than the club but constant bollocks we have had to suffer since Ashley took over means a lot of fans will side with Jose.
