José Enrique

Not sure why we need to hate everyone who leaves.

tends to be the manner of their leaving, milner conducted himself well so no problem, given and carroll were twats in the manner of their leaving. (carroll wouldn't have bothered me had he not tried to make out that the club forced him out by not offering him a new contract and trebling his wages etc)

Agreed on everything except for Given. I still like the bloke largely due to the fact that he stayed; and performed brilliantly; through a LOT of s*** under Souness and Allardyce before eventually becoming totally disillusioned with the club because of Joe FUCKEN Kinnear. Honestly can't blame the bloke. Agree with you 110% on Carroll though, that's the only reason I hate him.

then given should just have put in a transfer request instead of trying to engineer a move whilst still getting the full pay off.

:aww: Feelin's mutual

I genuinely don't have a problem with you, but "Will be gutting to see him and Carroll both playing for the bin dippers" isn't "I think Enrique will go to Liverpool" - it's "Enrique is going to Liverpool"

You have a ridiculous negative bias that everything will go wrong - Enrique is definitely leaving, he's definitely going to Liverpool etc.

I don't have a negative bias on everything.

Please tell me how to stay positive after the Scouse took the best prospect this club has produced for more than a decade, and are being linked to arguably our best player at a cut-price fee.

Our best player was tied-up permanently in January. Our second best player but arguably most influential has just signed a long-term contract.

To me, 'being linked' means nothing. I'll worry when/if anything actually happens.

Its only Talksport, but...

AC Milan are ready to test Newcastle's resolve with a £10m bid for left-back Jose Enrique in the summer.

The Spain international is yet to sign a contract extension on his deal which runs out in June 2012 and has been strongly linked with a move away from the club.

Liverpool are also reportedly in the hunt for Enrique, who has hinted that he'll make a decision on his decision at the end of the season, but they will now face competition from Milan.

According to reports in Italy, the Rossoneri have been impressed with Enrique's performances this season and are ready to break the bank with a £10m bid.

There's nothing I can do about it so I've just stopped worrying. I'd love him to stay but if he doesn't we'll just have to move on.

I'd much prefer it if he went abroad, I couldn't cope with him going to Spurs or Liverpool and getting wanked over every week by the pundits who have more or less ignored him because he's played for us.

Tbf, they're not really ignoring him these days. Every pundit wanks over him now.

Not to the OTT extent they would if he was tearing up and down the left at Anfield.

I could probably live with £10m and Milan, tbh. I doubt we'll get much more than that.

Would be chuffed with that. Decent amount of cash, and wouldn't have too see him on MOTD.

I wouldn't be chuffed, but other than him staying it wouldn't be a bad outcome.

He might stay until the end of his contract but he's probably not going to sign a new one. It's obvious the wankers at the top of this club would rather cash in this summer.

Don't understand why you won't accept that.

I'm not resigned to him leaving, if that's what you mean. I don't understand why you are.

Until he's signed for another club I'll remain hopeful that we can keep him, we just signed Tiote up to a long deal. Obviously on balance of probabilities he's more likely to leave than stay, but I don't accept anything beyond that at this point.

Have you seen how many LB's they have in their squad?

Agreed. He's off to Liverpool instead.

You can be such a prick at times.

I only give what I'm given :)

Only because they think he'll be off to Liverpool or Spurs in a couple of months.

They're just getting some practice in.

"Pardew confident Enrique will stay at NUFC"

ALAN PARDEW has revealed he remains confident Jose Enrique will commit his future to Newcastle United.

The Spaniard had declared that he will only open talks on his future once Premier League survival has been secured at St James’ Park next season.

But both Liverpool and AC Milan have been linked with the player who has been a revelation at left-back in the last two seasons at United.

However, Pardew has always maintained he is keen to retain his “best players” at United, but Enrique and Joey Barton have put contract discussions on ice, despite talk from both Toon stars in early January that they saw their future years on Tyneside.

Pardew successfully tied up Cheick Tiote until the 2016/17 season, with Mike Williamson and Nile Ranger also agreeing five-and-a-half year contracts last December.

Since then, there has been an eerie silence on the future of Barton and Enrique, with both out of contract in 2012.

Pardew, though, wants to close in on safety so he can sit down and talk with his £6m defender.

He told the Chronicle: “There is no update at the moment.

“Jose Enrique’s a little bit different because he wants to make sure we’re safe before he opens negotiations.”

United are currently on 36 points, but could get past that magic 40 mark in the next two games with wins today at Stoke City and then at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on April 2.

Pardew said: “Once we’re safe, Jose said he wanted to talk.

“We’re hoping to do that before the end of the season.”

The Barton situation is one that Geordie fans would love to see resolved.

The player has won the hearts of Newcastle fans, but also echoed some of their concerns when he publicly aired his views of fears over what type of signings will be arriving at St James’ Park next season.

It is also no secret that Bundesliga side Hamburg are admirers of the former Manchester City midfielder, who has enjoyed his best season by far since arriving from Eastlands four years ago under Sam Allardyce.

Pardew is also hopeful of persuading one of his best players to sign up and see out his career.

He said: “I think everyone else will run now on their contracts until the end of the season.

“We’ll all sit down and try to iron out issues with players in terms of contracts, and hopefully keep our best players at this football club. That’s what we want to do.”
