The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Conference League (at least)

Would be beautiful if City somehow missed out. -
Nice to have a big match to watch where I'm not too fussed about the outcome. It's proper stressful between watching us and then hate watching the other sides, and we've still got tomorrow, Wednesday night, next Saturday and next Sunday to come so this is a bit of buffer. Think it's why the enjoyed the league 1 and 2 play off games as well. Anyway, would rather Palace win as it's just something different and City don't need or deserve another trophy, but I certainly wouldn't be pissed off if City do win, never really minded them as a club and though they've got lost in all the tourist rubbish since the moneh came rolling, they do have some proper core fans that do have stuff in common with us.

Not sure about that. Bournemouth have pretty fucking great away stats. 7-7-4, 4th best. -
When was the last time we beat Arsenal?
-
CL for fifth now, and CL for winning the Europa which for the first time has no CL teams dropping into it has shaken things up. It all feels weird. fwiw, if we hadn't been dumped in a group of death and denied in Paris by that handball call, and Man U hadn't been hopeless in an easy group, the England coefficient would have been better and Spurs would have had a much better chance of getting CL last season for finishing fifth. It looks like 19/20 and 23/24 were the only recent seasons where English clubs weren't in the top two countries. https://www.uefa.com/nationalassociations/uefarankings/country/?year=2025

Calvert Lewin & Vardy suggestions are terrible. Ashley-esque signings. We've reportedly got a significant recruitment budget this summer and we need to press on, not lumber ourselves with over the hill players on massive wages.
-
Maybe DCL of 4 years ago, when we thought he might turn out to be a very good player, he hasn't had a clean run of games or looked good in years. Crazy to sign injury prone players, the more you get those types of injuries the more likely you suffer them with greater frequency and easier in future. We've had enough write offs, Willock had a warning sign on him, 2 serious knee and thigh issues before we signed him.Not only did Willock not improve, he's significantly worse as a player, it'd take a lot of luck to ever reach the levels he showed before even.

Nah, but it'd make the race for 8th redundant. -
Weren’t bbc and itv battling for tv time at 3pm and 5:30pm - could be an annoying compromise.

Nope, just 7th. -
There's no evidence at all that he's competent at all....he's barely scored for the last couple of seasons and has a reputation for being injured most of the time. Would rather have Osula as backup given that's what he was bought for in the first place....
-
No, but 7th would be conference league.

Would Palace winning bugger up 6th being a Europa league spot? -

I think Villa might do it. Not at all convinced that Chelsea win at the City Ground. -

Can probably get better odds on betting directly on us not winning against either Arsenal and Everton though. -
Breaking the trophy drought, by beating all of the top four, and Europa League is a brilliant season. CL is likely, will add more joy, and propel us further as a club, but that does not mean the lads don't deserve some "we're in Europa or better" appreciation if/when then gets confirmed first.

So basically if we'd shown title form since Christmas we'd not be in a predicament of needing a home win to a bottom half side to qualify? -
Nowt like tempting fate like. They're on the same points as us and we've got a couple of tough games left to play so owt can happen. We still need to win at least one to be sure
-
It's utter utter bullshit. Needs to be an emergency rule of "if man utd or spurs win the EL then they don't qualify for Europe also we retire this competition because the final being played by 16th vs 17th brings the whole thing into disrepute".
-
Yeah, that's fair. I have no idea how that game will go, thankfully we have another opportunity to do the job at SJP next week. If we tried to be as objective as possible and said Team X are 3rd in the league, with the second most wins and are in decent form. If all other results go against them, they still only need three points away to 2nd or at home to 14th to secure their objective, we'd fancy them. Like you say, it isn't a certainty, buy there's a very good chance.
-
Villa getting into UCL from the position they were in would've been highly impressive if it weren't for the fact that Spurs and Man U are the games that will get them there. Lucky as fuck.
-
365 have a ‘w/o Big 6’ market. Villa are 9/2 and Forest 66/1. If we don’t make CL, one of them is coming in.
