James Trafford: NUFC in talks with Burnley over £30m transfer (SkySports)
BergenMagpie replied to 54's topic in Football
Guess we could finalise a deal where he joins the 1st of july or something -
Pardew had so much much backing and some real quality players, look at what he was given to work with compared to say Hughton or Rafa. The second half of season we finished 5th he stumbled across a front three with Ben Arfa right, Cisse central and Ba left, with Cabaye and Tiote in the midfield. Then completely fucked it the next season by putting Cisse right side, dropping Ben Arfa and putting Ba through the middle. He was clueless as to what had worked and why it wasn't any longer. Was coming back from somewhere recently with a friend and they had that farce of a radio show on Talkshite on . He cracks on like he was never given any help from Ashley and was some kind of miracle worker. Hate the bloke.

Don’t think we want or even can pay £30million for him right now? -
I'm guessing when they're both on the pitch it being a pretty fluid "front two" switching between Isak going left, Pedro going right.
-
Really pleased if this goes through. £10M more than we could've paid last summer but he's arguably more proven and experienced, plus he's seemingly improved since then so I suppose it's fair enough. Would be a great way to start off the summer signings. I'm happy to give a promoted club that money rather than any other Prem team.
-
Bailey so probably bullshit, but anyway.."Brighton & Hove Albion striker Joao Pedro is willing to play in a right sided role Newcastle United".
-
All fair enough - he was an obvious yes-man who only got the job due to drinking in the same casino as Ashley. But I still dislike Bruce, Allardyce and Souness a lot more. Difference between shit and shite, mind you

I have no problem at all with Trafford but for me getting a GK is not a top priority, not as much as getting a new RW and a good quality right footed CB to rotate with Schar, or even a back up striker for Isak. but trust the club has an eye out for these as well. -
Meanwhile Chelsea swoop in and buy the Arena site, then sell it back to themselves.
-
Yep, reckon we might Get: 10 M Longstaff 15M Willock 10M Vlach 5M Targett Replace with a 40M midfielder
-
Its the length of time we had to suffer pardew that puts him at the top of my list. twice as long as Bruce! 🤮
-
He's right at the top for me, though partially a victim of circumstance. I still had misguided hope at the time he was manager. The day he left felt like things could turn and then somewhere during Carver/McClaren it became clear to me how pointless it all was. I barely enjoyed Rafa and didn't really care at all during Bruce -- there was only one real villain at that point. I hate that there are good memories attached to Pardew -- Tiote and the 4-4, Ba/Cisse/Ben Arfa, and my first time at SJP.
-
Kelly’s already gone and sits in this season’s accounts and in terms of the rest, the goalkeepers fees would be divided by ten (and even then I’m not sure we’d get £500k for Dubravka). No-one is paying £25m for Willock these days, and Longstaff has a year left on his contract.
-
Apparently a proper baller, that lad.
-
He’s not close to Souness, Allardyce, JFK or Bruce for me. I also find McClaren more dislikable

Would be a cracking signing for me. A GK is an obvious need, despite us being able to fill a five-a-side plus subs with keepers at the moment - Pope is a good PL keeper with flaws, Dubravka had a good spell last season but is getting on and isn’t the equal of Pope. -
It is some achievement that Pardew isnt my most hated manager of my lifetime like, it's a testament to Bruce really, takes some next level twatishness to beat Pardew, and here we are
-
Apart from accidentally cutting my cock off with a pair of rusty secateurs & inadvertently shooting myself in the head with a BB gun, this was undoubtedly the worst day of my miserable existence
-
That’s right, it was - forgot about the fanzine! Never heard them sing it, but it’s fair to say it must’ve been around a while for that. Seems apt that their ‘anthem’ is something that only winos sing.

Hmm, can imagine a few not being happy with that, especially after selling them first. The prospect of a near enough first team, or everyone in the squad would have been a decent factor. I don't mind, but I'm going with my brother and one of the first thing he said was at least it won't be split teams this time. He doesn't actually support Newcastle mind.
