You'd expect our alternatives to be on the continent.

    Bring Ayoze home!
  4. Think the club needs to understand the reality that if we want to sign established players, we will have to pay huge fees to do so. So either we suck it up and pay up or we look elsewhere for value. We're currently rummaging around in the back of the yellow stickers fridge hoping to find a fillet steak that nobody else fancied for tea.

Well there certainly is a list of players and Pedro was one of them.

If the transfer team and scouting network are doing their job they’ll have any number of alternates to come in as a second striker. It’s a case of taking more of a punt now than buying an EPL tried and tested option.
  7. Won’t make a jot of difference if said players have their eye on: 1/ A particular club 2/ Mo money Nothing to do with the speed of the deal. If we aren’t that club and can’t compete on salary we move on.

Who do we realistically sign now as an alternative to Isak?

With the squad they have, they genuinely need a good 6-7 players to go straight in to the starting 11, and that's being generous. Even then, those new players have to really hit the ground running. Of course things could click with the right recruitment and good coaching, but they were so far off Leeds and Burnley last season, I just think it'll be an almighty task for them to stay up, irrespective of them making massive waves in the footballing world.

From the outside looking in, the problem is that our "small pool" of targets is putting us in direct competition with teams who can spend considerably more than us. Hopefully we haven't limited our targets to the established, 'perfect' players because this sort of thing will happen more often than not. Either we get quoted an extortionate price by the selling club or we get blown out of the water by Chelsea, Man Utd etc.
  11. PSR doing its job perfectly.

    João Pedro

Shame as he could cover a lot of positions and give us options, but he fails the no-dickheads test so Chelsea should suit him

It worked well with Everton and Gordon and now it feels like we’re continually playing brinkmanship with every transfer. Meanwhile Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea etc just come in and steamroll at whatever price it needs to get done at. This window has been a further eye opener that the dice are stacked so far towards the pre-PSR clubs that it’s overtly crooked. Still, we all knew they were doing it and as long as they have the ESL threat and weak cuckold clubs like Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford to act as their feeder clubs and vote to maintain the status quo, we’ll forever be hoping Eddie turns water into wine. Or the back office team and PIF could get their backsides into gear after 3.5 years and actually do something game changing with the infrastructure side…

We don’t know that, just like we don’t know who Pedro prefers to join for whatever his reasons might be. Time will tell. The rest is just dot joining and click bait bollox.
  15. The system needs to change But as long as punters keep clicking, the system ain’t changing

Sounds like we had our window to get a deal done and blew it. Cant blame Chelsea for that
  17. Really happy for the lad. No doubt a big wrench (and slap in the face) being pulled away from boyhood club, rewarded with being relied upon and putting in a magnificent season, also rewarded with a much improved contract no doubt, then topped off with an international European trophy. What a year!

It is Sunday papers day too! Need them clicks.
  20. I think it could be a bit more interesting at the bottom this year. Admittedly it's hard to tell at this stage in the transfer window, but with that caveat in mind: Wolves looked dogshit for a long part of last season and have already sold their best player. The board and fans seem to be at war with each other and it's not a happy camp. West Ham have been on a downward curve since winning the European competition and could do with a refresh. Brentford have lost their manager, it is widely expected that they will lose their two best forward players and Arsenal are already sniffing around their best midfielder. They will have to get it right woth the replacements and if they don't they will be in bother. On the other hand Man Utd won't have Europe to contend with this season so will be able to focus on survival. Mainly though, the promoted teams this year will be better than last year. There's no way any of the 3 will be as bad as Leicester were when we played them, not a chance. And Leicester didn't even finish bottom!! I still think these and Burnley will go back down, and hopefully Leeds as well. But it's not the foregone conclusion a lot of people are telling themselves it will be. For the mackems there's a lot resting on the first 5 games imo. They need to hit the ground running so making signings early in the window is a smart move.

Funded by PIF this summer through the CWC too. Next they’ll announce Riyadh Air as FOS sponsor to the tune of 60m a year. Extraordinary turn of events.
  22. Thought he was superb last night. So comfortable on the ball and has bags of energy and drive
  23. There’s talk that they may have already sold all or part stake of the women’s team to themselves - but we won’t know until a few weeks time I think we should sell Strawberry Place to ourselves for 100m

I have faith in the club to get the players we need but transfers with us have become incredibly frustrating. We miss out on so many players its uncanny.

You are absolutely right - why did I think more players got sold?
