As long as we're loaning players to fill gaps where we can't buy the quality we want. We're not a Man City or Liverpool where we have loads of quality already in the squad to fall back on if we can't get our number one targets. Our team, quality wise is very lopsided and I wouldn't be happy to go into the season with the current squad.

The bar for out of the blue is Jonas when he signed. Literally nothing, just suddenly "Jonas Gutierrez has signed for Newcastle".

It's perfectly reasonable to be frustrated by the lack of attacking signings, considering how weak that area is.

I agree. I'd have both Diaby and Paqueta here now. The worry with signing Paqueta later is that if he has a good world cup it could be game over.

If we could only splash the cash on one player, I'd prefer it to be Diaby (as long as Paqueta doesn't go anywhere else). Then Paqueta in January or next summer.
