Armstrong has 26 in 74 games on loan so far as well as 30 goals in 49 for England at various levels at youth level. Didn't know Kane's record was so bad. Still though these promising young players we always seem to have never seem to amount to anything. Either we overrate them or our youth system really is that bad that it kills their potential.

It's a bit simplistic but you're on the right track. However Mike Ashley and 'fine in the long run' don't go together even with Benitez. The transfer bullshit this summer will only be the beginning. He will continue to do the most baffling and stupid things far beyond anything anyone in football could imagine.

A new goalkeeper is essential. Our options including Krul as he is today are not up to scratch. We basically need two new central midfielders and an AM if we are to play the same formation. The midfield is the weakest area of the team. At least with Gayle we have someone who could put the ball in the back of the net, although obviously we need more options there as well. The Gibbs rumours seemed to have died which is a shame because we don't appear to be linked to any other left backs.

I see it quite differently. I look at our squad and see very few Prem-quality players. I was really expecting us to bring in 5-6 first-team ready players, not gonna happen now you'd think. Can't say I have much confidence right now. The players I'd say are definitely good enough are: Yedlin, Mbemba, Clark, Ritchie, Shelvey and Gayle. Also hoping that Hayden, Atsu and Lejeune can step up. Dummett could be a reliable back up. Certainly not a decent team by any stretch of the imagination. Midfield and attack look pretty hopeless as it stands.

More likely he finds Rafa difficult because Rafa demands things from him and doesn't take the shit served to him. Just like Keegan. On top of that Rafa being popular means the fans hatred is squarely back with Ashley. During the Pardew era Ashley could generally get on with life because Pardew was taking all the flak away from him.
