  1. What a load of nonsense. If anything, we didn't attack enough. We should have went on for number two after Owen's first. We did, unfortunately the chance fell to Barton!
  2. sshh...don't let the facts get in the way of a good slagging. Give your head a shake man for God's sake. Sorry but I don't see the point in complaining about Owen when he's scored two goals even though our attacking play was blunt at best. I'm not just talking about today. In the Premiership, your centre forward has to be able to do more than just score the odd from a set piece. With the ball at his feet these days, Owen is totally impotent. He just won't put chances anymore. It's a matter of accepting that rather than categorising it as "a good slagging." Owen is still a good finisher IMO, but he doesn't offer much else, that much I agree with. The problems are much more concern in other areas of the pitch for me. Right wing, playmaker and central defence for a start. What's your evidence that he's a good finisher? Apart from a couple of scrappy tap ins (today and Stoke), he's scored one goal with his feet this season - against Barnsley. You can say we're not creating, but today, against Arsenal in the cup and against Man City off the top of my head, he's had chances that your typical Premiership striker should bury without a second thought. Had loads earlier in the season too (two simple ones against Wigan spring to mind). It's fucking laughable that Owen's getting a slagging, fact is he's been injured almost continuously since he arrived here, he's now on his longest run of games in our colours, he is getting sharper and will gain in confidence and will get back to somewhere near his best form if he can stay fit. Duff has also been suffering from injuries, but he looked something like his old self today. Some people don't appreciate that it takes 6 or so games for players to get their match fitness and sharpness back following lengthy injury lay offs, and I'm confident that Owen and Duff will continue to improve throughout the rest of this season and will be big players for us in our battle against relegation.
  3. Thanks to Fat Sam, Butt extended his contract by a year, Sam deserved to be sacked for that one decision alone. Stevie Wonder could see that Butt's been past it all season, he's a liability and shouldn't play for us again.
  4. Spot on! Dechamps, or any other foreign coach without Premiership experience, could easily have got us relagated this season. IMO Keegan is the right man, in the right place, at the right time, and there's no one I'd trust more than Keegan to spend Ashley's millions getting us back pushing the top four.
  5. If The Zog doesn't want to be part of the Keegan revolution then he can fuck right off, for about £15 million.
  6. That's better Skirge, if Vidula's out then Smith up front as he's due a goal.
  7. Do you know what, I really like that formation except I'd swop Duff and Zoggy around. It looks really mobile and I'm sure we'd create a shed load of chances.
  8. Keegan's doing his best with the crock of shite he inherited from Allardyce, and there were signs in both the games against Arse that he is having a positive impact on the squad in that we are at least trying to play football on the deck and the work rate tonight couldn't be faulted.
  9. There's a tabloid feeding frenzy around NUFC at the minute and we've all got to stay calm and ride it out. We badly need a win over the Smoggies on Sunday to ease some of the pressure.
  10. Why oh Wise!? I can't see the logic in his appointment. I was hoping if we appointed a Director of Football that he would be someone who was a deep thinker on the game, someone respected throughout the game, and someone who had built up a huge network of contacts within the game, IMO Wise fails on all 3 counts. His appointment smacks of jobs for the boys with that twat Kemsley advising Mike Ashley.
  11. Unfortunately factually correct. Sir Les just couldn't cut it when the real pressure was on, which is the difference between being a very good player and a great one.
  12. He's an exception to the rule in my experience. I gave a gooner some stick today and he spat his dummy out big time. Gooners love to dish it out but they don't like it up 'em!
  13. I'm worried about this potential move, even though I think Woodgate's the best Centre Half we've had in decades, his injury record is poor and the last thing we need is a player in and out of the back four disrupting any consistency or cohesion.

    Today's matches.

Well played JJ, shame he wasn't good enough for us (according to some of the knackers on here!).
  15. Good to see Given rolling it out at every opportunity, but clear for all to see that the quality just wasn't there to play that sort of football through the middle of the park. Granted that injury, suspension, African Nations Cup, and bail conditions had a lot to do with that but even allowing for those reasons we still need two quality, creative midfielders to play the Keegan way. I'd be surprised if more than 3 of the players who started tonight are still on the books this time next year.
  16. The disciples flock to the feet of the Messiah, and the Messiah delivers his sermon and does not disappoint his followers. NUFC is my religion and I feel like I'm born again.
  17. New manager, new era, new start, so let's get rid of the scum out of the club now and move on.
  18. I hope Keegan gets rid of Barton at the earliest opportunity. He's scum of the earth and shouldn't be allowed to soil our club any longer than is necessary.
  19. Richard Dunne. Looked class against Liverpool recently, didn't realise he was so quick. Stalling on new contract at City and Keegan knows the player.
  20. Well if the interview did come from Ashley, there's one man almost guaranteed to deliver what he wants and that's The Messiah, Keeeeegaaaaan!
  21. I don't think there's any chance of a Keegan/Shearer double act, their ego's are just too big. It's one or the other in my opinion, and I prefer Keegan at this stage. He's delivered vibrant, attacking football at every club he's managed, and with Ashley's millions to spend, I'm sure he'd deliver more of the same here again. If Mr Ashley really wants enjoyable, attacking football, then Keegan's your man!
  22. Another reason not to want him Imagine a top class manager and what he would be able to attract?? Ashley is spending his own money so I think it's only right that he employs who he wants to manage the club and spend that money on his behalf. Redknapp's never had such a challenge or opportunity, very few managers ever have, and only time will tell how he fares. One thing's for sure, it's going to be an exciting ride and I'm really looking forward to it.
  23. I'm excited by the prospect of Redknapp's appointment as manager not because I think he's the best man for the job, but for the fact that I don't think he'd come here unless he was given an open cheque book and told to create his dream team in black and white stripes. Whether he's capable of fullfilling the task is another matter and will only be answered in the fullness of time but I think exciting times are upon us, and I find it staggering the amount of negativity on here at the moment.
  24. And that's the way it should be, especially if Ashley's going to start flashing the cash. I wouldn't have trusted Allardyce to spend 10's of millions of my cash if I were Ashley and, trying to put a positive slant on the sacking, the new manager will want major financial backing to take the job. We'll all see in the very near future exactly what sort of owner Ashley is, and is going to be, by how much cash he is going to put at the new managers disposal.
  25. WOO HOO!!! Fantastic News!!! The man had shown that he was incapable of doing the job. Well done Mort and Ashley, decisive action was needed and decisive action has been taken!
