  1. Playing the percentages, functional, successful. That'll do for me.
  2. Sam has already said that there will be no new contract negotiations with Owen until he has played something like 20 consecutive games for us and proved he's over his injury worries. If he can stay fit and plays approaching that many games there's no doubt in my mind that he'll prove his worth with the goals he'll undoubtedly get for us, and the real test of his loyalty will come when a new contract is offered to him. Owen's pretty shrewd and I'm sure that he wouldn't have made these comments if he couldn't see himself signing an extension to his current contract if and when it's offered.
  3. I've read the article and you can't take anything but positives out of it for the future of the club. Ashley doesn't come across as a bullshitter and the gist of the article is that he's prepared to put his money where his mouth is and make NUFC one of the big hitters in the Premiership.

You really are pathetic. Even though I disagree with HTL's opinion of FFS I, and I believe many others, still respect his views on NUFC from a football perspective whereas I, and I believe many others, have little or no respect for what you've got to say and would appreciate it if you would fuck off!

No answer to this then, HTL? Or is this the CM stuff you're accusing me of in that PM you just sent me? Putting you in your place more like, and you know it. What's the point, tough guy? The CM stuff relates to your inability to consider the team ahead of the individual. You can think you're putting me in my place if you like. I prefer to believe the majority on here know who is generally posting shite about football and who isn't, despite the fact that when it comes to football people will never agree on everything. So tell me when did we play well when Bowyer was in instead of Parker? As for my inability to consider the team ahead of the individual, I've already pointed out to you both examples where I think you're wrong, trying to make out we were a better team when Bowyer was in instead of Parker was bollocks as you were basing it on 2 games, also making out we were a better team with Smith up front is also bollocks as we played better the week before when we had Martins and Viduka up front, all the while refusing to comment on Smith's awful performances in midfield because it's not his position. You seem to have your whole argument built around 3 games over the space of 2 year and as per usual you're talking utter bollocks. As for who people think is generally posting shite, people fucking laugh at you behind your back about how you go on and on about the old board, at the same time offering people out on toontastic because they don't agree with you, you're an idiot HTL and a bully to go with it. Another load of shite from start to finish. 1. I haven't made out we're better with Smith up front based on 3 games. 2. I have commented on Smith in midfield, I've said he's ineffective there. I couldn't care less if you understand what "ineffective" means, although I'm getting the feeling you don't have a clue. 3. I haven't made out we were better with Bowyer in the team based on 2 games. The point wasn't even about Bowyer, something else you don't understand. 4. I haven't "offered people out" on toontastic. In fact, I don't think I've posted on there in nearly 2 years now. It seems like your mates on Toontastic are spoon feeding you a load of tripe and you're eagerly gobbling it up. You're probably a good gobbler, though. 5. People may laugh at me behind my back. Do I give a shite? It's a forum, sunshine. Get a life. mackems.gif It'll take a good gobbler to take you on toughguy as cocks don't come much bigger than you. I'll leave it at that though as I don't want you offering me out. What an infantile little prick you really are! Why don't you do us all a favour and fuck off!

Its not even about partnerships. The entire team played better with Smith dropping off and linkup up intelligently, as opposed to tussling with defenders (Viduka) or displaying clown like touches (Martins, Ameobi). Ball retention was higher, there were more team attacking moves, simply because we werent losing the ball as soon as it was played forward, and we looked a better unit all round as a result. Good point, well made and neatly side stepped by Baghead.
  7. Good point, these things can make a massive difference to some players. If Sam wants to keep him then how he deals with Emre will be a big test of his much-vaunted 'man-management' skills. Emre had his best spell for NUFC last season when Scott Parker was out and Roeder was seen with an arm around Emre's shoulder I presume telling Emre he was "the man" and we were relying on him to produce. Emre seemed to thrive in this situation and produced his best form for us. Unfortunately it all went pear shaped for him when Parker returned to the side and Emre felt he was no longer "the man" and went back into his shell. There's no doubt in my mind that Emre is a class act given the right circumstances, and it's another test of Sam's management ability trying to get the best out of Emre on a consistent basis. Sunday was a good start, Emre came onto the pitch full of confidence and wanted the ball to show what he could do. Let's hope he can build on it in the future.
  8. Pleased to see Enrique start on Sunday and I thought he had a canny game for his first Premiership start.

I agree with all of that and would add that he would shoot more if he gets a regular start up front, and his confidence improves. I'm pleased for him that he has had a chance to silence his critics. As I've said all along, Smith is a very valuable member of Sam's squad and players like him branded as "utility" players rarely get the praise they deserve. I'd rather have him than Dire any day of the week and I'm sure Sam's of the same opinion.

    Sack Big Sam

Maybe he isn't if you're comparing him to yourself, Jabba. I don't know what that means but it just confirms that you are an immature little prick!
  11. That crossed my mind as well. Smith's signing made little sense in terms of squad building or indeed the first team. The fact we're putting him on the right wing is testament to that. But seeing Ashley turning up to games with Smith on his back does make you wonder, he seems undroppable at the moment yet he's offering the team nothing. Played better than most yesterday, like. I thought Smith was OK first half, or was it just because he stood out more with his peroxide crew cut?
  12. I was agreeing with him telling you to fuck off!

    Sack Big Sam

Not hard at all, I totally disagree that Sam has been a huge disappointment and I don't think he's that fat either. Sam's got a huge rebuilding job on and I think he's done fantastically well in the transfer market, giving the squad a complete overhaul for about £10 million. Our defence has been the joke of the Premiership for as long as I care to remember and Sam's addressed that, and we've now got a decent bunch of defenders who will only get better with time. When you take into account the number of new players we've got I'm more than happy with the start we've made to the season. I don't think anyone else could have done a better job than Sam and I find it incredible that some "supporters" are advocating his dismissal.
  14. No I wouldn't rather have Stead you brought him into it, I just showed how Owen hasn't proven to have been any better for us than Stead was for Blackburn and how much they've cost per goal. I said at the time we bought Owen that we could have spent the money better instead of putting £17 million into an injury prone player. I also said at the time that we were crazy to bid £9 milion more than our nearest and only rivals to his signature, Liverpool who bid £8 million. what liverpool bid means little, the only price that matters is that at which madrid would be willing to sell. £17mill was probably high but not by the £9mill you say (if indeed it's true that liverpool bid £8mill or bid at all). why we bid that much was to stop madrid accepting offers that came nowhere near this. the argument about wether it could have been better spent is very much a one of hindsight. Not a surprise though..... He's not a waste of money in terms of being a poor footballer, unlike players such as Luque, Boumsong, Parker and more than a few others. He hasn't justified the fee due to injuries, which is tough bad luck and is a part of football. I presume you're using hindsight in saying Luque and Boumsong were a waste of money? I presume this daft comment from you means you don't understand context. The answer you were looking for was yes, not a surprise though... Wrong again. Which is not a surprise... So you didn't use hindsight when you said Luque and Boumsong were a waste of money? I didn't know you were such a big follower of La Liga, HTL. What didn't impress you about Luque playing for Deportivo and why didn't you voice these concerns at the time? What is it with you since you turned 16, baggio? Hormones going mad, or something? You ignored the point of my post in favour of trying to argue with me for some reason. There is clearly an implication that Owen has been a waste of money. My point is that there is a difference between not getting value from a player due to injury compared to a player simply being a load of shite. Like Luque, Boumsong and Parker. That is the point I'm making and the one that you ignored. Owen is a top class player signed to replace a top class player, there is nothing wrong with trying to bring player like this to the club. Now fuck off. I can't be arsed with you so stop replying to my posts and I'll reciprocate. Good post HTL!
  15. I thought this topic was about defenders. It's hilarious that every topic in which Leazes and HTL get involved in rapidly descends into a defence of the fat one who used to be our chairman.
  16. As underlined by his performance yesterday. Sam must start Enrique next week if he's fit and I've no reason to believe he isn't.
  17. What exactly has his transfer fee got to do with this? How about this: Q. How long should it take a 21 year old professional athlete to get physically fit so that he can play Premiership football on a regular basis? A. Depends on his level of physical fitness when he arrived. Obvious, innit. His transfer fee is usually an indication of his ability. If he's as good as people say he is why isn't he playing? That's all I want to know.
  18. Is he our only recent foreign signing then? Of course not, so what's so different about Enrique apart from his age? A 21 year old with confidence in his own ability should be chomping at the bit to show us what he can do. I agreed with the policy of introducing him slowly but 2 months in to his NUFC career and he's still not starting is a bit over protective IMO.
  19. Who knows. You appear to be asking who was responsible for signing him. All I can say is that as Fred (ex chariman) was responsible for all our disgraceful failure to win load of trophies, and all our shit buys and any other manager or player that was as such a sure fire winner, he would be able to tell you, as he also decided who to buy and who to sell. So its either Allardyes fault, or Ashley or Morts. Which questions your previous claim made on many occasions that Shepherd was the reason we didn't win everything in sight. So I'm looking forward to us matching the Champions League qualifications that the alst shite board got us to which is clearly not good enough. I didn't think it possible but you are getting even more pathetic.
  20. Are you fucking nesh or what?! Are you texting on your phone again? Speak English or fuck off!
  21. Nowt to do with their left winger scoring one and making the crucial second as opposed to our passenger on the flank? Course not. Pace was crucual in both moves by the way...that may give a clue... And nowt to do with a net spend at Citeh of £40 million compared to our net spend of £10 million eh?
  22. I said midway through the second half that it looked like we were defending a 2-1 defeat. We were strolling around like we were in front, there was no sense of urgency at all.
  23. You couldn't be more wrong http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=45654.msg1026292#msg1026292 Well I'll just take their continued defending of the fat one to confirm that they are indeed totally deluded.
