  1. Taken from Wiki Style of Play Van Ginkel primarily plays as a central midfielder but has been lauded for his ability to play in a multitude of positions including defensive midfield and across the attacking midfield. From his early playing days at Vitesse he has primarily played in an attacking role, however, has matured in his ability to play in a deeper defensive role. Despite his young age, Van Ginkel is recognized as a solid, well-rounded player who has all the tools of a future superstar. On the pitch he is widely known for his maturity on the ball, super ball control and an extensive range of passing. He is comfortable with both feet, makes intelligent runs into the box and has an exceptional long-range shot. Van Ginkel has described himself as “a real box-to-box player. I can score goals but I can also be important to defense.” Current Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, holds the youngster in high regard and has likened him to England greats Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard. He has described Van Ginkel as an engine with immense physical power. As with several others, Jose is quick to point out his overall game, “He covers a fantastic area of the field defensively and after that he has this instinct where he wants to go into finishing areas, he wants to score goals. He’s very good in the air.”
  2. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/586681/European-minnows-Newcastle-Papiss-Cisse-Cheick-Tiote European minnows seek audacious double SWOOP for Newcastle's Papiss Cisse and Cheick Tiote NEWCASTLE pair Papiss Cisse and Cheick Tiote are being lined up by Trabzonspor in a £14million double swoop. The ambitious Turkish side have already held talks with Tiote's representatives and are now also keen on team-mate Cisse. Cisse, Newcastle's top scorer last season with 11 goals, is valued at £6.5m by the Super Lig club who failed with a similar bid for the Senegalese striker 2013. Cisse has 18 months left on his current Newcastle deal and has told new Tyneside boss Steve McClaren he is keen to stay. But Trabzonspor are taking no for an answer as they seek cover for Oscar Cardozo, the Paraguay forward who is set to miss the first three months of the campaign through injury. And they are willing to shell out £7.5m for Tiote, who hopes to be fit for the start of the season after surgery in February on a knee injury. Tiote has two years left on his current £40,000-a-week deal at St James' Park. But the 29-year-old is expected to leave, with Newcastle set to make a healthy profit on the £3.5m paid to McClaren's old club FC Twente in 2010.
  3. Played for City & Derby in the 80's/90's and been knocking around as manager/assistant to a few lower league clubs. Might have been at Carlisle with Garde Yay! watched him in the 80´s at a lot of games.. He was a total disaster as a lower league manager though so keep him in just a coaching role He was certainly no disaster at Carlisle, winning promotion 2 seasons in a row. Also found this on wiki "He was also named as the League Two Manager of the Year and in the League Managers Association statistics was the best manager in the country on points per game above Rafael Benítez".
  4. It's like a horrible case of deja vu, us playing a team in claret & blue, Mackems playing Chelsea & Hull playing Man U on the final day of the season
  5. Most people seem to dislike this but thought it might be of use to someone http://www.jdsports.co.uk/product/puma-newcastle-united-2014-away-shirt/138754/
  6. Probably a load of crap but if there is any truth in it could this mean they're already planning for Debuchy being on his way at the end of the season ? http://justarsenal.com/why-arsenal-and-jenkinson-should-say-yes-to-newcastle/31232 A different piece of Arsenal transfer news today as the Evening Standard are reporting that Newcastle United are interested in loaning Carl Jenkinson for the entirety of next season. This is great news for Jenkinson in my opinion as his development has definitely stalled with Sagna having a strong season and at his age, game time is vital for his development. Jenkinson joined from Charlton for around £1 million in 2011 and he really staked his claim to a place in the Arsenal team when he was forced into the right back spot because of injury to Sagna at the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. He had some great games against the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and so on. He even went on to have a very good game against Bayern Munich at the Allianz where we won 2-0. This season however, Jenkinson has definitely struggled to make his mark when he has started. He often seems clumsy now and lacks any real technique to his game. It has definitely been a step down from his performances last season. However, is this drop in performance because of his overall lack of ability or because he’s young? I personally think it’s a bit of both. A loan to Newcastle would be massive for his career. Being in a Premier league team where you will most definitely get more game time than you do at Arsenal will be very important to his development. Hopefully he’ll impress Pardew in this hypothetical loan and will become a starter at Newcastle. That in itself would be a great feat for him at such a young age and would aid his development. There is no doubt the young Englishman has stalled but he still has potential and hopefully he’ll have the option of going on loan to another Premier league club this summer so he can continue his development. Even if Sagna does leave, it is likely that Wenger will enter the transfer market for a more experienced and reliable player, so Jenkinson may have to accept that a move is the best thing for his long term future at Arsenal
  7. Has anyone came out & confirmed this yet or is it still just the word of "sky sources" ?
  8. I thought he got injured during the Sunderland game but maybe I'm wrong ?? Also thought SBR got it wrong in filling Bellamys place with Cort & Shola. He should have used Lua Lua or even Dyer up front.
  9. Yeah according to Wiki Belhanda had a year remaining and went to Kiev for 10m euros.
  10. I'm sure Belhanda only had a year left on his contract though. How long does Cabella have left on his ?
  11. I wonder if he'll find his goalscoring touch at QPR when we swap him for Remy haha. http://www.sportsdirectnews.com/football-transfer-window/36155-newcastle-magpies-weigh-up-cisse-remy-swap.php#.Uo4cGCfU4lM Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is weighing up a swap deal that would see Papiss Cisse move to Queens Park Rangers in exchange for the permanent signing of Loic Remy. Remy, currently on a season-long loan at St James' Park from the Championship outfit, has impressed in his brief time with the Magpies so far, and the club are desperate to make his loan move permanent. It had been reported that QPR were ready to increase their asking price for the prolific French striker, though SportsDirect News has learned that Newcastle hope to lower the fee by offloading the misfiring Cisse as part of the deal. The Senegalese forward has not yet scored in ten Premier League appearances this term, and has struggled to keep up the fine form he showed in his early days at the club. Remy, in contrast, has an impressive 7 goals in 9 games, and Pardew will be keen to fight off other sides for his signature as he continues to impress.
  12. Peter Beardsley without a doubt for me. My parents moved to Carlisle before I was born so my first football match was down at Brunton Park in the late 70's. Even as a kid with very little football knowledge Pedro by far stood out from the rest. I was gutted when Carlisle sold him to Vancouver Whitecaps but was over the moon when we he signed for us a year later.
  13. According to Sky Sources Norwich have agreed a fee with Celtic for Gary Hooper who will be travelling there for a medical today. Sickener for that droopy old fook if it's true haha. The way he was talking yesterday you'd have thought Hooper had signed already.

I thought Remys release clause was £6.8m, so we value Tayls at less than £1m lol ? Why does these papers post so much shite ? Last week we were prepared to pay £6.5m for Kone who had a £5m release clause. You'd think they'd get the f*ckin' facts right before printing such garbage.
  15. Don't know if this has been mentioned yet or not, so apologies in advance if it has. When I was on the phone to Sky today they told me that in light of this being free for BT Broadband subscribers Sky are offering offering reductions on peoples subscriptions to encourage them not to jump ship. I was offered free phone line rental, usually £14.50 per month, for a year with no obligation to take on BT Sports when ESPN goes down on July 31st.

He's as good if not better than anything we've got, would make an improvement on the starting 11 and if he is available on a free or a knock down price then we'd be daft not to be interested. We obviously seen something in him before he went to QPR and since he's been there he's scored 4 times in 6 appearances and looked decent in a struggling team in our league. To many people are far to quick to put sentimentality before reality & if the stories are true he knocked them back 3 times in favour of us before accepting an offer that was to good to turn down. If he did turn down there 30k more a week offer to come to us then that imo shows he no mercenary, but to knock back double what we were offering and a get out of jail free card would have shown him to be an idiot. He has zero connection or affinity to us and playing football is his job, how many people would turn down double wages and release clause in his situation ? I'd only mark him down as a mercenary if he was going somewhere he had little chance of being in the starting 11 every week and was prepared to warm the bench for his money. That was hardly gonna be the case at QPR.
  17. Release clause is around 19m but they are well over 100m in debt and need to sell.

I'd certainly have him for nowt at the end of the season if they go down. Don't know if their is any truth in it or not but a QPR supporter told me that Remy knocked them back twice in favour of us before finally agreeing to join them at the 3rd attempt. Apparently the 1st time they offered him 10k per week more than we were & the 2nd time 20k. It wasn't until they offered almost double and with a get out of jail free card that he snubbed us. Although I'm still pissed off about it, if any of that is true, he didn't just spurn us as soon as they offered an extra couple of quid and was more than happy to get 20 grand a week less to play for us over them. I'd also like to think they've shot themselves in the foot in signing Remy. Their recent run of good results coincided with them playing 451, Taarabt playing as lone striker making them a lot more solid than they had been. On Saturday they switched back to 442 to accommodate Remy and they were lucky to come away with a point because West Ham battered them.

He was more than interested until they doubled our wage offer.

You sure that wasn't Skys old footage of him arriving in England to speak to Stoke ? He was certainly wearing that same Varsity jacket when I seen him on SSN at that time and also seemed to be a lot of leaves on trees in the background of the clip I've just seen.
  22. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2261075/Sunderland-close-Moussa-Sissoko-Newcastle-target-Jores-Okore.html Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill is close to signing French star Moussa Sissoko, 23, in a £3.5million deal. The midfielder is being made available by his club Toulouse as his contract is up in the summer and they don't want to miss out on a fee. O'Neill, who is still keen on Swansea striker Danny Graham, will make an offer next week. Newcastle, meanwhile, have added Manchester United target Jores Okore, 20, to their list of potential signings. The Danish international defender is available for around £5m and impressed for Nordsjaelland in the Champions League this season.
