Personally I think he benefitted enormously from having a manager like Rafa. He got clear detailed instructions as to what to do, where to play and how to operate in CM from superb manager and responded. I think that lots of people (including me) forget that Hayden was bought as a squad member to get us out of the Championship 4 or 5 years ago, no more.
