I'd love to hear his reasoning for starting 7 players whose main purpose was to defend, at home against a team who had only won 2 of their previous 16 league games. You could make it 8 if you include Gouffran. Cowardly mentality to start the game and indicative of Pardew trying to save himself rather than showing a bit of bottle and picking a team to beat a (supposedly) inferior team.

Gut instinct is that we're going to have to score 3 to win it which I think is highly unlikely. Alnwick must be broken after the week he's had and can see him spilling a couple tomorrow too. That's a hell of a handicap to make up and I honestly don't think we're up to it, I wish I could convince myself we were going to be ok and we'd sneak it but I just can't. I'm expecting nothing.

Already resigned to another loss, can't see any other outcome after hearing the Alnwick news. Grim.

I know other clubs have exercised this rule about emergency keepers in the past (and there's no reason why we shouldn't take advantage in that respect) but I've always thought you should play whatever keepers you've got. If Alnwick is fit, play him. If it's Woodman, play him. Aye, it's a massive hindrance but at least they're Newcastle players. You play the cards you're dealt and make do.

That's the truly frightening part of it all, our lot will turn up fearing/expecting another pasting. They've already resigned themselves to it happening yet again and the anger/surprise won't be there at full time. They'll travel knowing they'll lose.
