Zenden would've been alreet but it shows he knew where we were lacking. Exactly.

Bellamy's pace and movement created the extra bit of space and time which benefitted Shearer. Quality service and delivery from right AND LEFT once Robert signed meant crosses coming in from both wings which balanced the side up and stretched the field for the defenders. Robson went out and signed those 2 and everything just clicked from there. We'll not mention how he went for Zenden and Jeffers first though.

Got to agree. They were worth 20 points. They brought balance, pace and service/delivery into an average team.
  4. Any English team who travel up for a game aganist the Huns is always taken really seriously by them. I think we'll lose by the odd goal but they'll celebrate like it's fucking Bannockburn. Just hope it's a good workout for us and we come through it without picking up any knocks. Also hope everyone behaves themselves...
  5. I say this without any malice, but make the most of the Champions League nights you have this season. Seems like a lifetime ago that we were playing there. Walking to your seat with the CL logo covering the centre circle, the music, the different advertising hoardings... it was fantastic and I enjoyed every one of the nights we had and I almost took them for granted. A few years later we're playing Scunthorpe away on a Tuesday night. Success comes and goes and I honestly can't see Spurs finishing in the Top 4 again for a good few years to come. Enjoy the games. Cheers man. If we do indeed make the group stages, i'm going to at least 2 of the home games so should be good. Thing is, we're not there yet and last time we got such a good draw didn't turn out good at all (Pompey FA cup semi). You'll make the group games, don't worry.
  6. That's a lot of money to turn down, if true. what's Wenger gonna do with 50m though? who's he gonna buy?...alls he ever seems to do is spunk his cash on more unprovens maybe if he went for someone like derossi at roma or something, i dunno...who else could he get in the position he needs? realistically wengers on the verge of properly losing it as it is, 50m and no fabregas might just break him That would be Wenger's problem. Maybe he thinks buying a couple of defenders would improve the squad/team which would compensate for losing Fabregas? It's a lot of cash and would Fabregas be giving it 100% if he's not being allowed to join the team he wants to play for? It's a big decision for Wenger and one he can't really get right.

  8. That's a lot of money to turn down, if true. Aye, I'd accept that. Sure its Fabregas, but thats money that you can rebuild a team with, especially when you've got Jack Wilshire and Ramsay coming through as replacements. That's what I mean. I don't care what Wenger says, every player has a value at which the bid is impossible to turn down. 50m Euro might just be that amount. Can see him going if the bid is true.
  9. I think we're ok to post European fixtures. Wait for Dave.

If Benfica can offer him the cash he wants and the chance to play in the Champions League then they'll probably get him. Always assuming they're actually interested and it's not more smoke and mirrors obviously.

  12. Lots of hair splitting going on here tbh. It's not a direct link so it's not the end of the world but I'll get rid of it anyway...
  13. Are you professing yourself as an expert? Bit rich?
  14. Probably waiting for Carroll to work out how to use a pen for the signatures.

If he comes in and is determined to do the business then our chances of surviving in this league go up dramatically. We need someone like him to create enough chances to win enough games to stay up. Got to get him if he wants to be here.
  16. If the club actually gets sold then we'll see. Losing Mascherano is a biggie. Leaves a lot eggs in 2 baskets.

That would be pretty shit. ..and yet entirely plausible.
  18. The people who took the piss should go to jail. Those that are left deserve their football club. Truth is that Portsmouth are a private company who can generate future tax payments to be pumped into the economy. Liquidate the club and you lose £37m plus all future tax revenues. Dont liquidate the club and get a bit back from the CVA, and get future tax revenues from a stable football club. Liquidate the club and every single club in the country pays every penny it owes on the dot, year in year out. Don't liquidate them and others will take the piss and HMRC might lose a hell of a lot more than that over the next 20 years or so. There will always be a club in Portsmouth so they can always tax the new club too. Make them start from scratch. I think the fear of prison for football club directors that don't pay the taxman is most likely to stop clubs offending. Obviously this requires new government legislation, but should be brought into place. Not liquidating Portsmouth will generate significantly more tax revenue than a non-league Portsmouth. Tough shit. Each month the taxman takes a chunk out of my wages without me having a choice. As does my National Insurance and my pension. Once they've gone my bills get paid and I've got a certain amount to live on. Portsmouth decided that they'd not pay their bills and invest the saved money in the squad and their wage bill. They achieved a fair amount of success with this enhanced squad and made quite a bit of extra money on the back of their FA Cup win and the European place it brought. They've lived beyond their means and have done so whilst deciding not to pay the essential bills that most other people and companies manage to. They deserve no sympathy and should be wiped out and made to start again. It's not the fans' fault but tough shit. Get behind the new club created in Portsmoth or go and support Southampton.

  20. If PFC have taken the piss and now owe the taxman £37m and are not in a position to pay then they deserve to be liquidised. I know it's harsh but that's the way of the world, HMRC need to make an example out of someone to ensure the 91 other clubs don't take the piss and if it's Portsmouth that bite the bullet then tough shit. They should have paid what they owed while they were clawing in millions on the back of their FA Cup win. Like I said, rough with the smooth.
  21. And rightly so in this case. Not sure why the 'public purse' should suffer. Can't see the current government being particularly sympathetic atm. Got to take the rough with the smooth. Nor should they be when protecting what they believe is potentially a £37m debt. Quite agree. We're not talking about buttons and if every other club has coughed up then they should be made to as well. Fair's fair, they owe it so they should pay it.

    Sunderland...

Didn't know that. Thought that Hart had played quite a bit in pre-season and hadn't seen much of the snake and assumed he was still out.

    Sunderland...

Can't see why Hart or City would agree to it tbh. Hart knows he'll play for City because Given is still out for a bit and if he goes to Sunderland he'd only start until Gordon is fit. At least at Birmingham he knew he'd start every game. Seems like a bit of a pointless move. Meh.
