He might command a fee?

Sometimes words fail me. Every other f***ing post tbh. His post is exactly what's wrong with a lot on here you included. It's always Ashley's fault, you can't see the wood for the trees and always see the pessimism in any transfer situation regarding Newcastle. I'm quoting this heap of s*** so you can't delete it when you've sobered up. He's f***ed this one up because he's trying to do things on the f***ing cheap. Has the penny not dropped yet? I don't drink.

It's always Ashley's fault, you can't see the wood for the trees and always see the pessimism in any transfer situation regarding Newcastle. What a f***ing dimwit you are. Whose fault is it then that we wouldn't pay a ridiculously low fee for a young French international? It's nothing to do with paying fee's. Marseille said to him, go and find a new club. He didn't say I want to leave, they told him to go, so he did everything became agreed, then some other clubs came sniffing around and they got greedy and decided to start moving the goalposts so to speak. The interested parties such as Benfica decided against it when they found out his wage demands, all the while we were still under the idea of a loan for 800k. They started demanding more money claiming more interest when there really wasn't. Rightly or wrongly, I believe rightly we said no because we had a deal in place, and the player was doing it all on his own by refusing to train. I think we were right to hold our position, they wanted an outright purchase, we didn't, and with good reason. He's a fantastic talent no doubt about that I'd love to have him here, but he has undeniable attitude problems, there's nothing stopping him pulling this with us when a bigger club comes in. If come September 1st , we have no one of similar potential or in that position, then I will openly criticise the club for not having contingency plans should this deal collapse. But to make out like we've dithered and made excuses is daft. They've tried to be greedy and we've not budged. Aye, we've dodged that bullet, eh? Well done us. Yay!

Ashley: The only billionaire to look a gift horse in the mouth. Can't believe we missed out, the lad was desperate to sign for us and we've fucked this up over a few hundred grand. Jesus died crying.

Oh well, at least we didn't pay over the odds then eh? That's the main thing.

Yep. Woeful. SSN had some nimrod going through the OPTA stats from last night to demonstrate how good Scholes was, and he was class btw, and our best passer (completed passes) was Barton with about 57 iirc. Man Utd had 4 or 5 players who completed more passes but Barton was our top performer. Found it difficult to believe but it was the official stats they used. Thought Barton did alreet myself. Kept it ticking over in the middle when we had the ball. Lacked urgency though at times although that could've been due to lack of options. Seemed to give the ball away loads whilst watching the game but he was always involved and didn't hide. He was comfortably better than Nolan and more mobile and involved than Smith. Would love to see how many passes Gutierrez completed...

Yeah but if he's flicking it on to no-one on a regular basis then surely it would be better to attempt to bring it down once in a while? Not having a go at carroll as he was really good tonight, more the fact he was so isolated at times it made no sense to flick it on as the midfield were so deep it was untrue.
-
If carroll's playing as a lone striker i'd expect him to try to bring it down and keep possession rather than flick it on. Where's his brains? Winning the header might look impressive but if the ch knows that his team are going to pick possession up straight away then it becomes canny dumb.

Look what was on the bench man. Jesus Christ. Barton, Smith and Nolan were all going to play, given Guthrie and Loven were both injured. If we'd had a fully fit squad and he'd still plumped for a 4-5-1, i'd have been pretty disappointed. As it was, we were on a hiding to absolutely nothing against a side like Manu - cos their players will just run the midfield and create chances all day long. We won't be the only ones they take to pieces this season. Exactly. They put 3 past Chelsea last weekend and will score loads this season.

Pretty much agree with that We're pretty much a ST to play alongside Carroll (Bellamy-esque) and an AM to plug that gap (Ben Arfa-esque) away from mounting a serious challenge to stay up IMO. We were making these mistakes last season too. Only difference is that the likes of Berbatov and Giggs will punish you for them where as strikers last season put them wide or straight at Harper. Need to cut that out but I'm fairly encouraged by what I've seen, despite the score.

I'd have probably settled for that before the game. The goals came through individula errors but I think Man U forced the errors by pushing high up the field and not letting us have any time or space. Their movement was fantastic and we got pulled all over the place for 10 or 15 minutes before we eventually conceded. As the half went on we chased them and our back 4 were pushed further and further back. Carroll was superb, our heads didn't go down, we created genuine chances, no-one got injured and our season starts on Sunday.
-
No more or less than I expected tbh. It's been pretty poor but I think a few folks on here are forgetting we're playing one of the best sides in Europe on their own ground... Our season isn't going to hinge on getting points from Old Trafford ffs.
-
The money should be made available to sign him. We've spent virtually nothing since we got promoted, trimmed the wage bill, received a wedge of cash for going up, sold loads (30k??) of season tickets, increased sponsorship/advertising and signed a new deal with Puma. If the club can't make £4m available now then we may as well not bother trying to stay up. Pay the money and get the lad in and playing ffs.
-
Barton's obviously introduced himself then.

Who has a medical at midnight? Might be one in the pipeline perhaps... Where is it happening anyway? Thought the cunt was back in Paris?
-
When was the last time you played five a side? Play regularly actually.
-
I do that all the time in 5-a-side.
-
Absolutely. Didn't pay as much attention to the PL lst season and obviously missed Wigan turning into a sack of shit. We're going to have to be really really poor to finish behind them.
-
Is Kirkland in Year 8?
-
That Wigan team, plus subs, is wank. If we can't finish above that lot over 38 games then we deserve to go down.
