  1. 1-2 Ashley Young will abuse Perch. Complete mismatch.

    Sunderland...

Fucking champion. Might quieten some of the pricks down a bit.
  3. No corners in the Wigan game today.... Chelsea also scored 6 despite having only 5 shots on target.... Bit odd.
  4. Shifting out s**** is an Ashley forte tbh. I'd expect Taylor to be the one shifted if anyone goes. Edit: hadn't seen that Dave btw. Bring in a club-less defender for nowt who has one or two seasons maximum left in him (if that) and sell a 24 year proven PL defender for a couple of million thats how to build for the future. Never said it would make sense tbh. Probably a load of s**** anyway, I'm just guessing. taylors stance oin his contract could force the issue (and i'm not one who would like to see him leave). We've had this conversation before. He either signs or he's put up for sale imo. He'd cost quite a bit to replace so paying him a bit more than we think he's worth might turn out to be the better course of action from a purely financial point of view. Getting dragged way off topic though. today or is there a time limit ? His contract situation should have been sorted, one way or the other, months ago. The fact the club have let it rumble on this long without him signing or leaving is pretty annoying. The whole situation needs to be brought to a head and he either moves on or signs on. Obviously not privvy to what has been spoken about in the negotiations but letting him leave on a free is the worst-case scenario.

  8. Or someone's on the way out to pay for him?
  9. Washing his hands of Rafa's white elephant. All part of winning the fans over by replacing him with Poulsen.
  10. Still, nice, easy start for him though... [/cynical]
  11. Best fans in the world dontchaknow.
  12. why is it thst under the curren regime we aere waiting until the end of the transfer window, as in the previous regime most transfers were done by july Getting them in early means you've got to pay them their wages for August...
  13. So what is the point in spending money in January to help us get promotion then getting relegated the following season for not consolidating You're asking the wrong bloke mate. I can't make sense of what Ashley's doing either.
  14. Hang on lads, hold your horses - this lad knows exactly what bids we've made. Let me guess, you can't tell us how you know, but you know. Someone's a little cranky. I'm not claiming ITK at all on this one. Not the best sources, but other more reliable places have mentioned us watching him too. http://www.tribalfootball.com/newcastle-made-check-fc-twente-midfielder-tiote-cheick-1037551 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/premier-league/7915859/Premier-League-Transfer-Talk-Club-by-club-Football-Transfers-Football-Rumours-July-28.html http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/article?contentId=2076177 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_6304588,00.html So you've read that we've bid 2.5m for him then? I am in a bit of a shitty mood seeing as you've asked btw.

  16. Jackie Charlton is as mad as a pan of crabs.
  17. Someone like Denns Wise would be perfect for us. Knows the game well, has contacts, good business brain, experience of management etc. Get the little shit in Ashley.
  18. All the cheap lads? Not going to happen. Just guessing who Parky had in mind. Not those exact people but someone to do the job here as they do (have done) at their clubs.
  19. Kenyon, Gill, Dein, Parry (as was).. etc I assume? Isn't Llambias just a monkey who has run a casino?
  20. What I meant was that the club would be guaranteed a pot of cash even on relegation. I we went straight back up then we'd be i exactly the same situation we are in now. I know it's me getting ahead of the situation but I'm struggling to understand how his mind and logic works.
  21. No-one knows what goes on in Ashley's mind but it wouldn't surprise me if, in a bizarre twist of logic, we appear to have made a bit of a rod for our own back by winning the CCC so comfortably last season. Had we scraped it by a point or two then Ashley may not have taken the chance of coming straight back down because we'd cut it so fine. By winning promotion by about 25 points it's encouraged Ashley to do it on cheap knowing that if we go down again we'll just piss the league like we did last season. He's sitting there assuming that if the worst comes to the worst and we go back down then we'll get these new imporved parachute payments and we'll bounce back again.
  22. There has to be a balance between spending beyond our means and spending virtually nothing. I thought the penny had dropped in January where he released a modest amount of money to buy Routledge which gave us an extra gear which meant we pissed the league. Why he can't apply the same common sense to this transfer window I've got no idea. Releasing another modest amount of money to get the likes of Ben Arfa in would have made complete sense but he's trying to do it on the cheap. We're going to yo-yo for the next few years imo.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

I've not got a problem with only spending what we've got coming in, balancing the books, paying off the debt etc - it's comon sense in this day and age and I never expected the club to shell out £15m (or even close to that) on transfer fees this summer...but when a player of his potential (and sell-on fee) is on the market and desperate to join us then I'd expect us to bend the rules a little and make a little cash available. That's what's disappointing tonight - the club were in a position to do a deal for a relatively small fee for a very good player and we've, seemingly, missed out. We may not get this type of deal for this type of player or a long time to come and Ashley and Llambias can have no-one to blame but themselves if they're presiding over another relegation in May. This lad could have been the difference.
