  1. God, are you still going on? Your horrible long team side lost at home to Wigan yesterday, yet here you are playing the 'holier than thou' card and preaching to me. Why on earth would you think I, or indeed the rest of the entire world, would give a s*** about Spurs tedious rambling on about their great football? If you want to preach about the quality of your play, at least have something worth crowing about in living memory as testimony to it - a bit like Arsenal down the road, for example. Spurs problem is - and has been for years - that they are the incarnation of "all fart, no s***". I'm not a latin scholar, so is that what "audere est facere" means? What you mean like last season? the fact is we're the only team outside the sky 4 that have qualified for the champions league and we're the only team outside the sky 4 that have won a domestic trophy in recent history (you had 2 chances to do the same and failed btw). Btw I commented about your teams performance today. You brought us up and i replied. Yes we played shite yesterday...it happens. This is a thread dedicated to discussing games that took place on the day so please stop taking it so personally. Newcastle and Portsmouth tbh.
  2. If Villa are offering cash then the chances are he'll go there. Although that doesn't quite tie-in with the Villa statement tonight about not signing anymore players until a boss has been named. Fuck knows.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

Makes you wonder why he didn't come in for him...

    Sunderland...

Aye, think I'll have a few squid on them.
  5. and gets recalled to the England team and starts with Carroll up front.
  6. What utter shit. A loan move? Who's that going to benefit? If he's refusing to sign the contract then we may as well keep him and play him. Very few clubs would be willing to pay his wages for a loan deal, certainly no-one in the CCC and Celtic aren't exactly flush atm either.
  7. And then Bent hands in a transfer request as he feels he needs to leave to further his England prospects. and signs for City at 5.30 on Tuesday afternoon.
  8. Got to be a mixture of a few kids who deserve a run out and a few older hands. To play 8 or 9 of the young lads at Stamford Bridge would knock their confidence. I'd go something like: Krul Perch Kadar Campbell Williamson Routledge Smith Tiote Lua Lua Ranger Lovenkrands We'll need all the pace we've got as they're going to dominate possession and we might have to rely on hitting them on the break if we're going to keep it respectable. It's a game where there is absolutley no pressure or expectation and they can go down there and try to enjoy it. It'll be no disgrace to go out to them.

    Joey Barton

should hughton whinge about it though ? Nope. Making a issue of it is the worst thing he could do.

    Joey Barton

Joey Barton may well be a cunt, but he's our cunt. He's wearing black and white and if he's getting kicked all over the park without reacting then I'm going to back him up.
  11. Thought Hughton was very diplomatic in that short MoTD interview. Acknowledged what had happened with Barton without slagging Henry, McCarthy or Wolves off and mushrooming it into something it's not. That said, I've got an inkling Henry will get nailed to the fucking wall when they come up here...

    Joey Barton

He's getting booked purely because he's called Joey Barton. Had he come out wearing a different shirt with a different name and number on the back and played exactly the same he wouldn't have 3 bookings to his name now. It fucking stinks tbh.

    Sunderland...

Thought Gyan looked decent in the WC but certainly nothing spectacularly good. If they're spaffing big money on him then that's fair enough but he's no better than Jones and there's no guarantee that he'll work in this league. Zog would be a good signing for them too but they'd just be another stepping stone until a bigger club come in for him. Still think they'll finish above us but only by a few points.
  14. Were they all from open play too? I can't remember him taking a penalty so I would think so. I assumed Midds was asking how many were from set pieces. No, no - just impressed that he's finished 19 chances from open play rather than scoring a few pens to boost his tally a bit.
  15. Were they all from open play too? I can't remember him taking a penalty so I would think so. Neither can I. That's pretty impressive.
  16. If we beat Blackpool and get one or two more bodies in before Tuesday then I'll be optimistic about the club and where we're headed. It shouldn't have needed relegation to sort us out but that's the way it's worked out. I'll never get too carried away because it'll only take a couple of injuries or bad defeats to change the mood. They need to continue to put things right though. Shouldn't rest on their laurels.

    Strongest Eleven

Surely it would depend on who and where we were playing? Against a mid-table side at home (the average) I'd go: Krul Perch (S. Taylor if he's here) Williamson Colo Enrique Routledge Barton Tiote Gutierrez Ben Arfa Carroll
  18. I don't doubt that he's better than what we've got, I just don't see what sitting on our bench will offer that sitting on the Spurs bench doesn't. He'd be second choice here, behind Carroll. At Spurs he'd have Defoe, Pav and Crouch plus A. N. Other in front of him once they've spent their CL cash. He wouldn't even be on the bench man. His choice isn't Spurs bench or our bench - it's our bench with a few starts, or not even named for the Spurs bench. He's so far down the Spurs pecking order he may as well move and play here.
  19. Don't think anyone's saying it would be a poor signing as such, more the fact they're questioning why he would come in the first place. I'm probably making it up, but I'm sure in the not too distant past, a fair few on here turned their noses up at the idea of getting him. Maybe so but for us, atm, I think Keane would be a fantastic signing and I'm pretty sure most Newcastle fans would love to have Keane in the squad.

  21. If this all comes off, and it's a long way from that atm, then I think Keane will get plenty of games. If he doesn't start then he'll be on the bench and the first guy thrown on by Hughton to get us a goal. Chances are that we'll lose Carroll to injury, suspension or Her Majesty's Service from time to time so he'll see plenty of the ball. He's better than what we've got and would be another player who can turn a draw into a win.
