I'd agree with that. Money alone won't win games of football - players will. The money has to be spent well on players that will get results. I reckon they'll finish 4th this season and then spend another fortune to break the top 2. In 5 years time they'll have won the league imo. They're putting their money where their mouth is and part of me wants them to be successful - if only to drop the sickening scouse cunts out of the CL/top 4.

Just like shagging a prossie. You get your win but no-one's actually impressed with you. Money talks. They're stupidly rich and when they win something some people will, rightly, say they've bought it. But most clubs that have been successful over the years have spent a shit load. It's a canny rule of thumb - the more you spend on good players, the more you win. Doesn't always work out like that obviously but generally speaking... Yep. Ambition + financial clout = [/potentialcanofworms] no can of worms there tbh. Just common sense. There's a limited number of pots to win each year and subsequently some big names are going to win precisely fuck all. Some big teams spending a fortune will end up with nowt. They can't all win something.

The money side of things is irrelevant. They've got so much money behind them it doesn't even matter how much he's going to cost. The fact they took him from under United's nose was the important thing - it sends out a signal. They're shitting money and this is only the start of it tbh. They'll win the League soon enough.

The standard of the teams is garbage tbh. I reckon we're even worse than last year but we're now winning games because the opposition are so bad. It's fucking great in so far as we can play absolute dogshit and still win but I'm under no illusions as to what would happen if this squad were to get promoted and not strengthen. We're still awful and yet still a cut above the dross in here.

Go Go Gadget-neck..........................

At poker maybe... Certainly not football.

Last time I saw 5 Bellies he was drinking pints of white wine in Seaham Harbour about 11 years ago. Dark days... He's as skinny as a rake now. Known just as 'Jimmy' then?

I'm not going to start second-guessing him now tbh. Nothing he's done here for the last 18 month has made any sort of sense. He's got pretty much every footballing decision wrong and he's hired people who are/were totally unsuitable for the job. I honestly think he's just making it up as he goes along and doesn't look further than the next week. He's got no idea whatsoever how the sport works or how to run a football club. Arrogant in the extreme in as much as he never thought we could go down and had no idea how to turn it round and rectify things. Haven't got a scrap of sympathy for him but I don't believe he thought he'd be in this situation when he bought us 2 years ago. He's just fucked up and can't seem to realise that if he just spent a bit of money at key times then all of this could have been avoided soooo easily.

I think they'll appeal and end up paying a massive fine instead. UEFA just wanted to flex their muscles a bit and they'll drop the punishment down a bit.
-
Sensible? yes. Cheaper? no. Nah, he'll come in and do a reasonable job at this level. He's not pretty to watch but he'll be fairly effective and he'll score a few. Decent signing for a championship team.
-
Annoy the people who pay to see him attempt to play football.
-
Unbelievably limited striker but he'd still be a cut above most of the shite in this League. Well worth a punt.

Like Geovanni? Who kept hull up. Normally.... He also signed for a Premier League club who could afford a premier league wage at the time. We can't. That would be the reason to avoid him had he been available this year. I'd imagine we could top out at 20k, which is what some of these will be on. Some of these have had bad luck, iffy injury, or just are't good enough for the top, we aren't at the top so I'd be happy to take a one year punt on some of them. We might unearth a gem. Fair enough. I wouldn't touch any of them with a shitty stick, but there you go. What would you suggest then for our rather small squad? Not sure what the question actually is tbh. I would have thought that the current transfer policy of this regime is canny clear. We can't afford to sanction a big wage. Injury-prone players are ruled out too. Very few on there would have any resale value. Some have got major attitude problems. Basically, it was signing and relying on this type of shit that got us relegated in the first fucking place. Have we learned nothing??

There's a few players on there, that, if possible to sign would be far too good for the Championship. Saying they should all be avoided like the plague is ridiculous. So why are they without a club? If they're that good why hasn't a single club gone in for them and signed them?
-
There's normally a very good reason why these type of players are all without a club. They need to be avoided like the plague tbh.
-
If Hughton can't see the correlation between Butt's absence and our good results then he needs a kick in the knackers tbh. Butt doesn't deserve a place in the team. Fuck, he barely deserves to draw oxygen.
-
Seen absolutely nothing in this league to be scared of. We'll slip up now and again obviously but as long as we keep beating the dross then we should go up automatically.
-
Did quite well last night I thought. Didn't have much to do but managed to stay switched on when he had to be. The saves were pretty routine but he did all that was asked of him...apart from his distribution which is still disgraceful.

Lovenkrands in and a couple of loans by the sounds of things. Cash out = £0. Mike will be well chuffed.
