He's never a midfielder in a million years. He's a forward who works hard and he'll put himself about. He's not good enough technically to operate in the middle of the park. His tackling and passing aren't good enough but he can get away with it upfront. He did more today than his previous 6 games in midfield. We've got midfielders and should be used up top whenever Viduka isn't fit. Ameobi shouldn't get a look in tbh.

Do you not think there could have been shout for him to leave it. Maybe. I don't think he could leave it though, it would have bounced in a very dangerous area. He just flapped and fucked it up. It looked like it was spinning in at the time and would certainly have hit the inside of the post had he left it. It looks poor but people would have slagged him off if he'd have left it and it bounced in off the post. Just one of those things. Better than being beaten from 65 yards out I suppose.

He did seem a bit miffed tbh....

I can see the advantages of switching wingers. But surely the whole points of playing with 'wingers' is to give the midfield a bit of width and provide crosses to attack. Switching wingers negates the option of getting to the bye-line and standing crosses up because the full back knows straight away that it's coming inside and can, generally, deal with it much easier. Of course having a pair of two-footed wingers is the ideal option...

If Young played for Chelsea and Cole played for Villa - Young would start for England on the left imo.

Elano had a competent goalkeeper between him and the net. Shay's shit don't forget. http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=45676.0 I see.... Better give it Michael Johnson then. You're just showing off now...

They couldn't even see his face barely, nobody saw him what was the point in turning himself in. I think its fair that they get a ban, and perhaps some games behind closed doors. To be honest though Dida went down like he'd been hit by a grizzly bear, how embaressing if his kids see that. No doubt he will have the piss taken out of him at training for being such a wuss. I reckon CCTV in Celtic Park might be canny good tbh. Biggish fine and 2 games behind closed doors sounds about right imo. Was daft but hardly crime of the century was it?

Just seen it! The daft fucker shouldn't have been on the park but he barely touched him. Absolutely ridiculous reaction from Dida. Cheating twat.

Oh dear. Marseille have just smacked one in from 20 yards off the crossbar. That's a blow...

http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,16368,2483_2771236,00.html 3rd choice You rate Harper as a better keeper than Jaaskelainen? as good as. i've never particularly rated jaas that highly, like niemi a few years back when people were raving about him. That's fair enough. I think he's head and shoulders better than Harper from what I've seen of him, but there you go. All about opinions as they say.

Water them? Not rocket science like... thanks mate but i kinda think thaat its not as simple as that, although obviously with the superb all year sun weather in the toon i can see how the training pitches dont get enough water in them anyway. LEt alone the practiality of watering the training pitch every day 5 days a week, i dont think so somehow. Ask a stupid question...

I don't see what the reason for going out has to do with any player coming back, if a player is doing well when he's playing in the team, he should keep his place until that player does something to lose it. I've never liked a player walking back into the team just because he's fit. It sends the wrong message to the player who comes in and does well, a player should know that he will be rewarded for putting in good performances. That is the incentive to come in and do well, that is what will drive the players on to do better, it's dangling the carrot. I just think that he lost his place through no fault of his own. He picked up a knock and couldn't play and Harper came in and deputised for 6 weeks or so. Now he's fit, I think he deserves his place back. Harper did ok, not great but not bad, served his purpose and now should revert to the role he seems happy to have accepted. Can see where you're coming from though.

I agree. However, it seems a bit inconsistent of the manager to say that form players pick themselves and then drop the form player. Wouldn't you agree that if you go down that route you should stick with it, rather than drop an in-form player? I would...but the only reason Harper got his game was down to Given picking up an injury. It wasn't lack of form. He's now fit so he should come straight back and start every game until he loses his place for playing poorly. In my opinion obviously.

I think Given's got enough quality games in the bank to justify sticking with him after a few dodgy moments. He's still very much in credit imo.

I like to think that one day they'll pass each other in the street, walk on a few yards before both stopping, turning and squinting at each other. Just knowing somehow who the other one is and then launching into an angry debate about Shepherd in the middle of the street. I reckon that if they ever found themselves in the same bar having a pint, they'd get on like a house on fire personally. Honestly! blueyes.gif

Lescott or Woodgate should play if Terry is out. You just know that McClaren will play someone like Wes Brown or Dawson though. Concurred. blueyes.gif

John Terry's broken his cheekbone. That's at least a month out I reckon. How many will be calling for Taylor to be called up after today then? Thought he was poor and did himself no favours whatsoever in front of McClaren.

Spot on. blueyes.gif Patience is needed.

Exactly People who moan should be banned imo, just to piss them off even more So how will that work then? I was being sarcastic obviously Ah right. So you we'll not be hearing any whining from you then?
