No thread on it yet? Source: BBC Kinnear hints at January targets Newcastle United manager Joe Kinnear has hinted at players he would like to bring to St James' Park in January. Talks with owner Mike Ashley about Kinnear's future at the club have been pushed back, so the interim boss is planning for a longer stay on Tyneside. "We need two players in as soon as possible, and I have them in mind," he told reporters on Friday. "One is with Roma and isn't in the team at the moment. The other has already scored against us this season." Following Kinnear's substantial clue about a Roma player, one man who has been heavily linked is John Arne Riise. The 28-year-old Norwegian, a Liverpool player for many years, left Anfield for Italy over the summer in a deal worth £4m. By contrast, French defender Philippe Mexes has made fewer appearances and was recently reported to be in talks with AC Milan, as Roma try to offload star players to service their debts. Kinnear's other clue, about a player who has scored against Newcastle this season, does little to narrow down the list of possibilities. It has been suggested that Arsenal's 20-year-old midfielder Denilson is Kinnear's target as he scored in the Gunners' 3-0 win earlier this season, but 23 players have scored against Newcastle this term. Kinnear had initially expected to be in charge at the Tyneside club for a matter of weeks but, with the news that talks with owner Ashley will no longer take place after Saturday's game against Chelsea, has settled in for a longer haul. "I have already got my shortlist ready and I will be giving it to Mike," said the 61-year-old. "I know their agents and what they would be is loan deals from January until the end of the season. I already know the player in Rome would cost us £2m to bring over here. "We need to strengthen the team and the squad and, if we can get them, they would be a big boost because both are top-class players."

Downing's dead balls has been good tbf -
Had a treble on Celtic, Aalborg and Florentina to draw and won 47.04 on a quid bet

Can be frustrating watching him, but as long as hes on the pitch hes always a threat, reminds me of a better version of lua lua if anything. Pace creates space for others so very vital for us at the moment we look so dangerous on the counter with him in the team.

Berbatov 1-0 Blatantly offside

You're inches away from an open goal, in the middle of it as well, and you manage to miss when you could've just walked it over the goal line. Could possibly be worse misses, but I can't remember them. Kanu's was worse in my opinion

Was bad but not the worse in the century maybe at international level

I think just the return of the likes of Martins will have a huge effect on the team let alone the names mentioned in the 1st thread.

Getting abit bored of the Ranger talk tbh...

Bring him in without a doubt work ethic of Milner and has alot more pace and ability with the ball
-
Abit of height would be good so maybe Enrique apart from that, not much else, Owen off the bench if we need him
-
While we're on the subject the quality of our corners were alot better yesterday
-
To be fair as it turned we was forced to play a more defensive 4-4-1-1 formation with Duff sitting deeper rather than a 4-4-2 with Martins plus either Owen or Viduka, could have been a blessing in disguise but who knows.

His tracking back was immense, loved it when he just picked it off Giggs and played to straight to Martins another time, another time their striker was tracking back and Jonas was just shrugging him off with ease then decided to speed up and he got taken out.
-
His workrate and tracking back is never his strength, i thought he did well in attack with Jonas and was always there to support down the wing when attacking. But as people stated never a LB, Jose can't be that bad in training can he?
