    50,000 + Or.....

When there were standing areas it was far better. The first Keegan years so far as the excitement and expectation were in a class of their own. But generally, every stadium in the premiership would be better off if they had standing areas behind the goals. With controlled admission, ticket only etc etc if needed. No problems with that aspect. We know that the Heysel stadium, and Hillsborough should never happen again but in my opinion the legislation went a bit too far and its time to relax it. agree about the standing bit being brought back but disagree about the atmosphere to some extent. the noise wasn't as loud due to roof coverage etc. if you sat in the old stand the gallowgate didn't sound all that loud but if you were in the gallowgate the atmosphere could be electric.
  2. nufc have been run along business lines since ashleys takeover. theres as much an argument that all bar chelsea are being run not as playthings but legitimate financial concerns with a view to making a profit at the end of it all.
  3. Isn't that going to lead to the Stan Cummins situation? Or doesn't that exist now? I mean offer them less money and they leave on a free. Know it's an old case but not sure if it still applies. back then players could only leave on afree under those circumstances when there contract had expired. the way it was when the contract had ran out,if they'd been offered an improved contract a transfer fee was still needed even when the contract had finished.
  4. Fortunately the insanity levels have already peaked. It's early this year. unfortunatly i think this is nowhere near the peak.
  5. i'd rather have the blue cockneys and say to them "there you go we gave you it" as danqua, godsmark, zamblera et al done the season ending lap and saying to ferguson "don't whinge matey,it was ok for you to play half a team against bolton and endangering teams at the bottom so how d'you like it when others do it?"
  6. may be a good idea with a particular thread for "published " rumours so everyone can see just how much the press make up. i have a feeling this may be the silliest of selly seasons and for all evryone slags off the press i think deep down there are quite a few who swallow every word.
  7. i'd rather win it for chelsea by putting out a youth team to piss ferguson off.
  8. pompey have perked up at home since the arrival of defoe plus 'arry will want to prove he made the right decision (even if the decision may not have been his),and not so long ago they want 9hrs? at home without scoring, even boro won there. will they have the end of season cruise mood going ? will we ? should be an open game
  9. why are we going to need a winger ? Judging by our injury problems over the last what, 10 years, we cannot rely on one formation and one style of play. are you classing a ljungberg/pires type as a winger ? Not at all, but if you watch Deco play you will see he avoids the wings (mainly because Ronaldinho or Messi would have already got there). As good as he would be through the middle I think we need to find a more sustainable option to play through the middle and create goals. Unlike Pires and Ljungberg, Deco does stay in the middle of the park and like them he is also getting on, by the time we sign him he probably will be 31 and I can't see him being ready to fly down the flanks if needs be. Bentley is becoming the sort of player Pires and Ljungberg were at their peaks, be it creating goals or scoring them and funnily enough they all have the Arsenal background. i know deco plays through the middle and bentley isn't exactly a gillespie style winger thats why i was wondering what you meant You have to consider Deco's age and whether he would be able to adapt to an increasingly competitive Premiership after only making 12 league starts this season ... i've said earlier i'd like both/either here but not at the prices mentioned

  13. also he has to be one of the unluckiest players around. i've never seen anyone get fouled and have the decision go the other way as much as it happens to him He has the special ability to make being fouled look like he's fouling someone. him and rob lee are the only players i've seen stand still and wait for the ball, have a defender run into them, bounce off, fall down and then be penalised for it.
  14. not sure about paying £15mill for either. deco may well have past his best and be going backwards whereas my opinion of bentley is that for all he had a spell of good games he's ahd a good few ordinary which have been overlooked due to him being the in-thing at the minute (think elano earlier on in the season)
  15. yet again going in head first for tackles...when will he learn. or are you sure they werent counting the stitches is in silly hat.

  17. or they provide what they think society wants hence why the tabloids outsell the broadsheets and why the broadsheets have been dumbing down for years. want to know why we have a s*** press/media ?.........take a look at the society it is catering for. I blame people like Wullie for giving them the attention they're looking for, proving that this kind of journalism works. agreed. i was all for saying nowt. but equally saying nowt about them when they are licking the clubs arse aswell. treet them as the irrelevence they are.

Totally agree, but this is because the Politically inspired dumbing-down of the Education system has created this society.... i'm not orwellian enough to think it was politically inspired. politically derived maybe but not politically inspired.
  19. i'm said that few times. sellars summed up the pass and go football we played.

  22. apt, maybe they should play this over the PA. Can you hear them talking about us Telling lies, is that a surprise Can you see them, see right through them They have no shield, nothing must be revealed It doesn't matter what they say, no one listens anyway Our lips are sealed There's a weapon that we can use in our defense silence Well just look at them, look right through them That's when they disappear, that's when we lose the fear It doesn't matter what they say, in the jealous games people play Our lips are sealed It doesn't matter what they say, no one's listening anyway Our lips are sealed Hush, my darling, don't you cry Guardian angel, forget their lies Can you hear them talking about us Telling lies, well thats no surprise Can you see them, see right through them They have no shield, nothing must be revealed It doesn't matter what they say in the jealous games people play Our lips are sealed Pay no mind to what they say, it doesn't matter anyway Our lips are sealed Our lips are sealed Our lips are sealed
