pace and athleticism ?...........did you miss last season when emre got further forward than box to box parker and got further back than box to box parker.agreed about no startling pace but which centralmidfielders have ? That says more about his indiscipline to the role and his work-rate than anything. I still believe we need one of those players who can do it all, a poor man's Gerrard or Essien - a powerhouse. Barton may be considered to play that role, he certainly puts a shift in, but so did Parker and we need to move away from that. No good Barton being the everyman if there is no purpose to it, i.e. shooting from left to right to press because he has tons of energy. Again, that's what Parker did but that left holes. Indeed, Emre does the same. thats more more about his willingness to dig in and work when others won't......did you slag shearer off for coming back at times when he felt it was needed ?
-
sure n'zogbia came as wing back, like bernard did,and remember bernard played a lot of games in midfield before making left back his own.
-
hang on though,he possibly is !

The post you were replying to was tongue in cheek and not meant to be taken seriously. gotcha whooshed!

a lot of people (me included) said similar about solano Read the title. read the title...and...so....what ? what i said was in reply to the post i quoted,to the idea that it's shocking that some players wouldn't be used in some situations.

Would you have asked your wife to marry you if she'd never said she loved you, or shown you any kind of affection? Would you have voted for someone who refused to say what their policies would be? You're asking him to make a risk assessment without any information. You're basically being Noel Edmonds asking deal or no deal. Fred was the banker bloke on the phone - you knew what you were getting. Ashely is the money in the box - it could be a lot or it could be £1. he has the same information as us all and unfortunatly you can't say i'll make my 23rd july decision based on what i see happening in august.the deal or no deal analogy is agood one in that people make the choice, they don't get to see what's in the box then decide.

Allardyce said: “Charles N’Zogbia could arguably be the best left-back this club has on its books at the moment." damned with faint praise ?
-
i've stated several times in this thread that allardyce has said things get so far with a player then "fall on stony ground",which to me sounds like the preliminaries get sorted ie "you've made a bid that can be negotiated on so you can appraoch the player" then it stops.my thinking is the selling club jacks the price because of us having a billionaire backer or allardyce/mort thinks the player is asking far too much. the fact that allardyce says things get "so far" strongly suggests bids ARE being made.

Dyer's been looking for a way out for a long time, remember the noises he made when Leeds came a knocking, so I don't think it's all down to him being hounded. There was a time in Sir Bob's days when a few clubs were sniffing around and being quoted £20 million, but I can't remember him agitating to leave. I may be wrong though. He can't have been happy about the way the club has been run over the last four years, but it sounded to me like, after his injuries, he was up for a fresh start with Allardyce and the new owner. Then he gets booed in the first two friendlies, for no good reason. That may not be the only issue, but it would be enough to tip someone away from a decision to stay to a decision to go. by the red top press

I didn't hear Ashley say he was going to bankroll managers, did you ? Has he had any previous experience of owning football clubs so we can judge him ? If you did, please show me a link. I wouldn't have liked that hedge fund though, and quite a lot of chairman at other premiership and big city clubs around the country either. can i take it you would have preferred fred had stayed and ashley never took over then ? please don't answer anything about seeing what ashley does as what he does in the future has sod all bearing on feelings now.
-
NE5--Would you mind answering the question "would you rather fred were still here or would you rather take the risk with ashley ?" i've read your previous answers and they don't seem to make sense, you see when i asked my wife to marry me i'd have been pissed off had she replied "well my answer depends on how you treet me in our first few years" when i voted at the general election there was no box marked "depends on what happens in the next couple of years." it's a question for now,i wish we could do it your way,no-one would ever make a mistake.

You might turn out to be correct with some of the above but the comment about Ashley not spending money is no more than a crock of s***, he's spent £133 million to buy the club and he's taken on £80 million in debt. For the first time in the history of Newcastle United we've got a sole owner, one who has dragged more cash out of his pocket than we've ever seen before. He has employed a top businessman who is now looking at the club to see how it stands. We might not be taking massive leaps but we do seem to be laying the foundations to move forward by make good decisions for the club. If things work out well for us I think you will be privately gutted. Unlike yourself, I was not attracted to the club by the potential success that the Halls and Shepherd brought to the club, I supported them a long time before that, hoping for success. will you answer my question please....would you rather fred was still here or take the chance with ashley ? please try not to dodge the question with more about a future neither of us no as fact,i'm asking about about "now",we cannot know what the future holds but we have to make decisions...what's yours ? My answer is dependent on how they back their managers. We don't know yet if Ashley will back his managers more than the Halls and Shepherd. YOu are asking me to say who I prefer, based on what exactly ? Their personality ? I don't give a toss about Fred saying daft things in a brothel, likewise I don't give a toss if Ashley never makes a single quote to the press about anything. Neither scenario matter at all. My instinct is that the club is in safe hands with a man who will cover the debt undertaken in expanding the stadium, and a single owner who has delisted the club. But we can't be sure at all until we see the extent of his ambition and football nous. He may be perfectly happy just existing in the premiership and making small annual profits. We can't expect him to spend his own money on the club. There are also lots of clubs now in the hands of rich men. They are all looking to be in the CL and get their money back, and they can't all do it. Fact of life. no,you cannot make a decision "now" based on what will happen in the future, thats why it's a risk. i'll give you another go "would you rather fred was still here or take the risk with ashley ?"

I couldn't give a toss about personalities, we don't know if Ashley will back his managers. If he doesn't back them as much as Fred and the Halls, who would you rather have ? stop avoiding the question,..................would you rather fred was still here or take the chance with ashley ?

allright NE5 lets just cut to the chase, would you rather fred was still here or would you rather we take the chance with ashley ?

thats what I like, good old blind optimism and an absolute conviction that anyone but Fred would be better despite only 4 clubs qualifying for europe more than us in the past decade What is your own particular "pure speculative opinion" on this matter ? And why do you think he should be spending his own money ? trying to f*** up another thread ? you mean having an alternative [but possibly correct] opinion to the numerous who blindly agree with each other ? Like it or not, its a relevant comment that may indeed be true, that he does not intend to spend his own money on the club. Why do you think otherwise ? Apart from that, the WUM deserves ridicule in spades. Wake up and smell the coffee, it just might be correct. so you mean as yet we don't know but you'll continue on your petty "fred was great and i'll fuck up a great many threads in the attempt to prove it". i have sympathy for your views,i think fat fred took more stick than was justified, but he's gone and you know it is far too early to judge ashley, and you know people think he'll spend cos it would seem the most likely way to get a return on his investment. can you tell me why he would spend £140mill minimum to have us languish in mid table losing cash ?

meanwhile in that time the actual business slips further behind it's competition. if that was the case wouldn't it be better to just sack allardyce now and get in the man they want ?
-
Ashley isn't gonna put any money into the club until the review is complete, any decent businessman would be the same in all other businesses. In other words, you do some research before you invest, Ashley wants thing perfect before he starts churning out millions. wouldn't be so sure,is it smart business sense to allow the business to slip further back against it's competitors whilst carrying out a review (whatever the outcome of the review it's pretty obvious where improvments need to be made)especially when the time allotted for makind improvements is so narrow.
-
oh yes they can,it's the 6 seconds delay thing

NSG is sitting in his bedroom trying to deepen his voice and affect a non-charva sounding geordie accent.

do you think the failure to get in players so far is down to the review ?
-
i'll bet it's not "neil, why are you such a whinging twat?"
-
yet allardyce has said things reach a certain point then "fall on stony ground",you'd think that offering a selling cluba transfer fee would be the first call,if this is close then they may allow the buyer to talk to the player while a fee is finalised,it seems like this is the sticking point.
