which is only to be expected,we use a superority idea to wind them up,on top of that i'm 40 and in that 40 years safc have bested us maybe a half dozen seasons. if the wind up superiority mixes with the real superority it makes for a strong belief

I don't think we have time to wait around on the Heinze situation, we need a left back quickly because the season starts in 3 weeks and Babayaro won't be available. But we also need central defenders as the article acknowledges. The only other "top class defender" who we've been linked with is indeed Barzagli. on the other hand i'd rather bring a very good player in on august 31st than a poor one in tomorrow. If we are bringing in a player who is not familiar with the premiership then we have to do so now I think. So they have a bit of time to adjust. We cannot afford to bring in any foreigners on the last day, particularly defenders, as it will only make things far more difficult for them. We cannot afford to be unstable defensively at the start of the season! you'd rather have leighton baines now than taiwo on august 31st ?

no you don't get it,we think we have a devine right to be above the mackems (we don't really but it winds them up sooooo much),we affect a superiority complex to wind them up................now do you get it.

instead of trolling through the now mammoth thread about this ,here is your one stop shop to see who your felow on-liners think the mystery "top stopper" is

lets see how they'd turn up with 30 odd years of no trophies, the vast majority of it being being a poor standard of football with the board not being able (willing ?) to raise the standards............i don't think man utd or arsenal would sell out and have such massive crowds under the circumstances we have found ourselves. note......i never said they wouldnt have support as good as ours,i well remember the days when our home crowds were marginally better than the leicesters,QPR's and wolves of this world and only our travelling support (like the mackems it has to said) marked us above the rest.

there are some similarities between us and them,to say we are the same is like saying verlaine and vic are the same!

The same is going on over here mate. If you question the wisdom of certain signings, people come out with the same old tired responses ("so we should go out and buy Kaka should we?"). Allardyce came out to the press a few days ago and said the new owners don't really know what they're doing in the transfer market, started quoting how much clubs like Fulham are spending and said we're getting left behind while targets are getting nailed every day. He said he needs to get across to them the importance of moving quickly so he can get the defenders he needs. It was a plea via the media to Ashley and co for money. I'm not even sure Allardyce has met Ashley yet, but a good number of fans were concerned he's using the media to ask for funds and fast. However, come on here and voice that and you get the sarcy "let's sign Kaka then" brigade saying there's ages left in the transfer window so shut up. Clearly this internal review is slowing things down, and nobody has any idea when it'll finish, but if it's concerning Allardyce then it should concern the fans. If he knows more than us and he's concerned then something's not right, and if he doesn't know more than us then what the hell is going on? I don't like to see my manager looking for funds via the media, it suggests communication behind the scenes is limited and it doesn't look very professional. On the previous page somebody made the comparison to the Emperor's new clothes and that's exactly what's going on. I imagine things are similar over at your end, though I must admit I haven't been following your summer at all. Good post. Both me and Ohmelads were shot down last week for saying Queudrue isn't good enough, it's like they're on a high about Allardyce and Ashely coming in and seem to see the positive in everything. Would these same people have been happy if we brought Queudrue in under Shepherd? No chance they would as I remember the majority of this forum against the idea of bringing Callum Davies in. We've just started pre-season games with Ramage and Huntington in the starting line upand I pray we don't have to start the season with them, this isn't good enough whether it's Mort or Shepherd in charge, that's not to say we won't have better defenders in by the time the season kicks off but anyone who isn't worried that we could end up like we did last summer needs to have a word with themselves. Rather tellingly, there now appears to be a slow trickle of people who are realising that replacing the old board with "anyone" may not necessarily be the automatic passport to gold and glory that they thought it would be. And Ashley is one of the better ones who could have taken over I don't think anyone thought that a new board couldn't be worse although you kept accusing people of it without a single quote to back it up. Nice to see you're enjoying it anyway. I'm sure I've spent about the last 2 years telling people - not you - who were claiming that Shepherd was the person preventing NUFC from being the club that they were, every time I said that there were many many chairman who would be worse and replacing with better was far from automatic ........ it is the single biggest reason for the amount of people who have disagreed with me, slated me for this view and had "arguments". I'm not enjoying it at all. If Ashley turns out not to be better than the Halls and Shepherd, I could have kept my shares. but it's a big "IF",don't you think it's worth the risk, selling your shares on this occasion ?

£8m for Shorey? Jesus. The longer it takes to sign a few defenders the more I can see these prices creeping up in an already crazy market. As left sided defenders are a rarer breed, if we haven't found one soon I can see us being made to shell out a bomb. The English market is crazily over-priced. With Allardyce's contacts I would have thought he could bring in better value options from abroad. Ideally we'd prefer Prem experience, but there's no point in paying daft prices through desperation. either way,it's all gone very quiet rumour wise on defenders...........i hope this is a good sign

If it means that Ashley is now prepared to spend some of HIS own cash within the club, then it changes things a lot. if ? like plenty have already said the delisting wouldn't make a difference business wise.yes any acquisitions would have to be announced to the stock exchange and that may cost money but is tiny compared to the ammount we'd have to spend by losing out on the players needed. I don't know who these "plenty" are, but they are wrong. There are probably more knowledgeable people on here about this subject, who can explain it better than I could, but having your own private limited company is about as different as you can get to running a public, listed, having-to-account-for-eveything PLC. me,vic and keefaz on this page alone and it's been covered in hte main takeover thread. yes i know it is different running a private concern to a PLC. but i've yet to read one decent reason why he'd hang on till delisting knowikng that would happen anyway. Either way, are we all in agreement (do you think) that Ashley should now put his money where his mouth is(n't)? aye

That's harsh even on Vic! She is a f****** despicable human being. somewhat above vic's standing then ?
-
What total s****! Are you saying that John Terry, Tony Adams, Roy Keane etc were/are not key driving forces behind their club's success as captains? If you get the right captain it can make a hell of a difference to the dynamics of the team and the club. I was initially dismayed by the signing of Barton, but he's done nothing but impress me with the way he's conducted himself so far, and I know it's early days, but he'd be my choice for captain at this stage. yes,as those players, especially the latter two were the driving forces even when they werent captains. you don't need an armband to be a leader.

You 'avin-a-go' like? Did I ever say we would not be de-listing? no you said it was a major milestone dictating the point at which Ashley would start doing something And it is! Yes it is. This happened at 08.00 this morning. Did you want him to buy Deco at 08.01? seriously, tell me why he wouldn't have 1 week ago? You are persistant. I said I was not going to debate that point (again) as it has been thoroughly discussed and answered (and it is 'obvious' anyway). So pack it in!! it's not f****** obvious FFS It is. take away the names and it's like vic's arguning with himself

Most of it will come from season ticket sales and the increased TV money. I've not worked it out, but that's probably at least £25m without increasing the debt. He may even put an initial extra amount in himself. However I don't for a second believe that in the long run he will continue to put his own money into the club. In the future we will have no visibility of how much he is putting into or taking out of the club though so who knows. Let me ask you this - Ashley has built his money with a "pile it high, sell it cheap" philosophy, and a permanent "closing down sale, everything must go" marketing strategy. What makes everyone so confident that with NUFC he will adopt a risky strategy of spending big on high quality players in the hope of large rewards (ie top end of the market) rather than spending just enough on decent players to maintain premiership status and occasionally getting into Europe (ie trying to be the best of the mid range market)? What makes you think he's going to be straight up and honest with us supporters when he treats his current customers as mugs? thats what he done with soccer world etc but not his strategy at lillywhites and slazenger, karrimor etc. he has shops which are aimed at a lower market and he knows how to sell in that market but you shouldn't try and make out this is his whole strategy as it isn't.
