  1. aye..when the rule first came out someone had the idea of using the (i think) smith and jones sketch as a basis. ie north london foreign legion = arsenal, navy base in sad decline with a horrid ground=portsmouth. werent allowed to use it.
  2. you should never believe what he says. what message does it send out to those in the team if keegan says "aye mass clearout in the sumer,.there'll only be a couiple of this mob left"
  3. maybe the bits he's forgotten are the important bits
  4. i think he just looks like that cos he looks heavy. he's certainly no speedster but not as slow as a lot would make out.
  5. for someone so slow i haven't seen anyone burn him off
  6. Spurs bought 15 players in one window when Arnesen first joined and seemed to be buying a couple every week. They've all gone now but Pamarot, Davis and Pedro Mendes have all done well for Pompey. The likes of those players, plus Atouba, Naybet, Carrick etc provided the 'quick fix' stepping stone to the next level from the one where Spurs had previously languished. That first season we missed Uefa competition on the final day, to be followed by successive 5th places. Buying a lot of players in one window can work, and work well, if it's done properly. Football is a simple game ultimately...Get good players and get them on the pitch. you'll have to explain how it makes you a year ahead of everyone else edit..hey no fair, you edited out your BS
  7. dont know about that..look at man citeh. if there is an atmosphere of something happening at a club players may well want to be part of it. probably wouldn't turn down a move to a top 4 club but enogh to compete with those who'll finish comfortably ahead of us this season. if the money is there getting in the first major/exciting signing could spark the atmosphere to entice others.
  8. oh yes he will be dropped. just watch as soon as martins is fit.
  9. Yes - we finished 2nd. already been done phil,it was also pointed out that he done it with keegans team and thinks werent quite so good the next season (mind i'm record as sayiing we got shot of dalglish too early)
  10. enrique hasn't been fantastic but he's been our best left back this season.
  11. i remember people saying the same (different numbers allowing for inflation)when kegan came first time round...also the mackems were saying it when keane came in that he'd need to spend £30million to avid releagtion from the championship.
  12. nufc-geordie....you raise some good points. 1) he does get caught ball watching, which he often does when playing inother positions. he's not a good enough player with the ball to allow to be poor without it. 2)i saw it as n'zogbia took up some good positions to help duff (as a full back or midfielder should) then stopped. 3) correct but many think hebetter than he has been for the last season and a half. 4) even in his preferred position he does little off the ball and increasingly holds on too much and makes wrong decisions which cut out other players. what is also typical of newcastle united fans( fans of all clubs really) is that when they have a favourite they can't see when he is playing poorly.
  13. WE finished second and went into the champions league? with Keegan's players. As soon as the world class manager was able to bring his own in, we plummeted like a stone. Lest ye forget. even that doesn't tell the whole story, sold ferdinand then had shearer and asprilla out with long term injuries, brought in given, solano, hamman and thomasson. should have been given longer in my view.
  14. what a good idea yorkie. can't believe no-one's thought of putting the fixtures on here before.

are we taking about the van/bus driver on balamory ?
  16. So your not allowed to support a team if your not born there? People can't choose where they are born, but surely they have the right to choose which team they want to support? what country are you from ? honest qusetion and after you answer my back up question will clarify why i'm asking I'm English, born in England too. do you support England ? if so ,why ? Can already see where this is leading, but hey. Yes I support England. I'm English through and through and to support England is to support my fellow countrymen. I also like to see Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland do well in major competitions. Have to say it is a bit different with league football. Let's face it, your not exactly cheering on a starting 11 of local lads at every football ground, in fact these days it's quite a novelty to have a local lad in your starting line, or even an English one for that matter for some clubs. From the stance some people are taking, you could say it’s acceptable to be a part of a football club as a staff member if your not local or from this country, but its not acceptable to be fan if your not local. Why is this? the idea is they represent a geographical area...thats why the vast majority are named after said area and also why the vast majority of football crowds are drawn from said area (yes even man utd). given a footballing world of your view ,only 4 or 5 clubs would still be in existence as everyone (without the geo-pull of the local team)would just support those that they like.....which in 99% of cases are the succesful ones (coincidence ?....i think not).

    The Basics

thats down to movement and nouse....not so much pace. Try sticking 11 turtles together and seeing if they get past 11 hares. 11 clever turtles against 11 thick hares.........aesop as the ref...you know the result. relegation probably. very good come back, short and pithy. but i hope you are wrong.
  19. I agree with most of that except for where we would be with Allerdyce, I don't think we would have a single point more. In some ways I wish he was still here, just so he could get the stick he deserves and suffer the s**** we're having to suffer, instead of sitting at home with all those £millions.
  20. Like I said, he needed to sort some things out. And yet we only lost 8 league games. but we wer egoing backwards fast,as the mackems did, under monkeys heed
  21. The main things Bobby had to sort was Jenas not playing like he did in his first season, a replacement for Nobby who was stupidly sold and a replacement for an ageing Speed who didn't need to be sold for a pittance. We needed to turn draws into wins, I'm sure we only lost 4 league games during the season when we finished 5th, it wasn't many. bobby's last season we were the team who lost most leads....not just in the prem...not just in england but in british league football

  23. that was my choice (faye-n'zogbia in centre mid)
  24. Some, like me would say we didn't, I think he'd have turned us around if given the support to bring the players in that he wanted, we'll never know. Even Arsenal and Man U go through transitional periods under Wenger and Ferguson, why should we have been any different? i equate the change in play and atmosphere to that of peyter reids seacond sunderland season of seventh....for all they finished in the same position many of their fans were calling for a change....they didnt and we all know what came next. it's all subjective but i saw us going downwards from that time.....at that time i didnt know souness would take over mind.
