most on here who aren't from up here and without direct ties still ascribe to some form of conditioning "older brother supported them".."my mother supported them" which is understandable. no doubt there are a few round the country who just latched on when we were succesful.those are as bad as those who follow man utd/arsenal for the only reason "i hit 13 and chesterfield,my local team are crap and i wanted to support a winning team so i chose........." i wonder if NM can honestly say what would've happened to him had his dad been a vociferous yet plastic liverpool fan....is he 100% certain he wouldn't have followed his dad ? i had it easy, all my family support NUFC and i live in newcastle and loved football from an early age. no need to twist my arm. i

i'm gonna go against the grain, not saying we'll win but it wont be as bad as many are thinking.

you know why andy carroll never had or probably will never get a proper chance.........................because he's not good enough. i've heard the same thing said about joe allon, paul brayson, paul robinson and michael chopra...."you never know till you try them" pile of s***. tell you what, you never know i might have been good enough just wasn't given a chance. Chopra never got a chance but was clearly good enough, or at least better than what we've got. Scored more goals in less games than Smith this season, in a so called worse team. Owen's got one more in about the same games, Viduka 2 more and our top scorer 3 more. who would you play chopra in place of (apart from smith) ? chopra will never get a regular game in the prem Why can't i include Smith? Is there a problem in wasting £6m? We could of had him last season when Owen was out instead of the crap we to field, he could of been closer to prem football at the club he loves. Viduka's been injured, Owen's been coming back from injury, Martins has been away, you saying we couldn't of done with Chopra instead of playing Smith or half fit players? even with what we've had chopra wouldn't have been given a start, even the mackems think he's s****....i'd rather play milner off andy carroll than play chopra Would you rather play Smith or Chopra? Would you rather have a free Chopra on our books or a £6m Smith? i'd play milner up front before either. i'd rather we hadn't bought smith but cashed in on chopra -
if on the off chance one if them is a manc, just say "we'll talk football" and be honest.

just say the speech..."doesn't matter, i support my team because they are mine, through everything, you can't take the piss out of me for following my team when you are likely to fuck off when the going gets tough"
-
what about teams from other leagues? :sad1: people surely can have a favorite from la liga or whatever. just have to be all NUFC should we meet in the intertoto! Why would you want to support a team form somewhere you weren't from? Second teams from anywhere is bad enough, but another in the EPL, as the first poster clearly has, is mental. My lads both support Newcastle - both born and live in London. Are you saying they shouldn't? Given that I'm from Newcastle and the local EPL team is West Ham, their choice makes total sense to me. that i understand...i have a mate,a plastic geordie scouser, glory hunter of the old school, liverpool and when it comes to football we don't really get on...but i can understand his kids supporting liverpool (2 do,1 doesn't) as that is how they have been brought up.
-
it's something i've asked before of those from outside the area and without ties to NUFC but what lead them to NUFC. ? (thats not a sneering question,it's a genuine enquiry)

Why would you want to support a team form somewhere you weren't from? Fuckin hate that "support your local team" bullshit... I want to support a team that entertains me. I don't give a f***, where they're from... does that mean if they stop entertaining you'll go elsewhere ?

the arsenal one and watching john "the absolute horrible b******" aldridge refuse to shake hands with paul davis walking off the pitch, only months after ruffling brian laws hair and giving him a thumbs up after an OG in the hillsbrough semi replay. if you cant take it. dont give it. (on my birthday aswell,in corfu,on my first med holiday, dancing on a table as the 2nd went in in a blur of amstel, ouzo and meze's)

Why would you want to support a team form somewhere you weren't from? Second teams from anywhere is bad enough, but another in the EPL, as the first poster clearly has, is mental. So what if I don't live in Newcastle? I've followed Newcastle my entire life, but because I don't live in Newcastle, or even have an English nationality, I'm not a worthy follower of the team? I fail to see where that makes sense, and I won't even bother start saying why people would support a team from a town they are not from. I'd rather see you back up your statement as to why someone supporting a team that is not from where they're from is the correct answer, 'cause I think you'd have a hard time making a valid point backing that up. As for having a "second" team, can you honestly say you've not paid more attention to teams around the world after managing teams on FM for instance? It's not like people are rampant fans of these "second" teams, but there are certain teams that if were on the telly I would want to watch just for the pleasure of watching football. Though of course if you follow two teams in the same league almost with the same passion I'd say there was something wrong with that person and he'd/she'd need to get put to sleep. You don't have "second" teams in the same league, it's a given. i have clubs who's results i look out for (sheff wed, lincoln city)as i have friends who support them....don't care if they win or lose, just interested in how they done. i'm with the northumbrian,i can't understand the idea of second favourite teams....even in the euro leagues (unless i have cash on) i just want the small teams to turn the big ones over.

i don't see whats wrong, for him it would be beneficial to go on loan and get some first team games but unfortunatly the club needs the numbers. wouldn't be surpised if he went on a season long loan next season and we get the benefit later. -
More like 40 years. some bitterness in here,as much as i dislike the club now and their fans for a long time. liverpool were the best team in europe for a while.
-
exactly. someone earlier mentioned a good example, we'd never have signed the Senegalese Faye or Beye after our experience with fellow countryman Amdy Faye. and the amount of s**** english players we've had should put us right off signing any more. agreed. but i'm drawing the line at strong welsh accents

bernard was better and "homesick" is a s*** excuse Sorry madras, but that's just bollocks. Homesickness is a far more valid reason than you credit it. it's also a catch all excuse, the "bad back" of being in a huff and wanting away. Was it not actually more something to do with his religion or something anyway? that was during one of his sabaticals in paris. ask yourself, had we won the league or been pushing on and looking good, would he have left ? i very much doubt it Pretty sure we were up in around 6th-7th in the first-half of that 00-01 season when he left. Thank God we replaced him with the mighty Quinn. we were going nowhere,he knew it and we knew it. quinn was a shame (fantastic in that semi for the blades)

i say i was there and watched a 90minute game week in week out.as i was with bernard and bernard gets my vote

i'd disagree, bernard had one season when even some french reporters were calling for his inclusion in the national set-up. his performance in milan probably the best left back performance i'd seen since alan kennedy

Distin, Domi, Bernard, Robert, Ginola and N'Zogbia all did well enough. Goma was OK Viana looked alright at first but god knows what happened. He does seem to be an exception though. Ronaldo, Nani, Boa Morte, Tiago, Paolo Ferriera, Carvalho have all done well in the Premiership. distin fucked off for greed domi fucked off in a huff bernard fucked off and needed the fa to tell him he couldn't ginola lasted 1 1/2 seasons before him bottom lip hit the deck robert, good season bad season good/bad season n'zogbia good start 18months of huff
