how was roeder the better tactician ? Every time we played Spurs he outwitted Jol and it wasn't by any kind of masterstroke either. Jol's tactics? Well, he had none. you meam both times under roeder....does that mean allardyce has been tactically out thought by billy davies and steve bruce to name but a few ? truth is spurs have been very poor on their travels (hey it happens look at citeh) and in our game last year at shite fart lane they murdered us in all butresult.

Oliver could get sacked over this if it's a lie and Mort goes to the editor with it. There is no way to prove it and I doubt Mort would lower himself to AO's snake like level. The man seriously is a shitbag. He and his paper have played as big a part in our failings as the likes of FS in my eyes. aye, righto

ginola...as good if not a better first touch than bergkamp.

could it be evened up by the luck of wigan getting a player sent off up here when he shouldn't have been, milners fluke v mackems, milners complete mis kick V spuds that he then got on to, getting an equaliser v derby that wasn't deserved. forget the refs and wonder goals our play this season has been that bad we should count ourselves lucky to be where we are

People have really, really short memories concerning how horrible we were under Roeder. Compare yesterday to the corresponding fixture last year (0-1 to Man City) does anyone honestly believe that we played worse than we did then? I'm not talking about last night. Yeah for the first 30 mins we played some good stuff, but the rest of the match was on par with a Roeder performance. The Derby games were on par, if not worse, than anything Roeder served up, as were the Sunderland, Liverpool, Portsmouth, Wigan away, Reading away, Fulham away (even though we won). FFS we've only had 10 shots on target in the games against Fulham, Wigan, Reading, Liverpool and Sunderland put together. There seems to be a lot of blind faith going around that he will turn it around given time, but have you honestly seen anything to suggest he can? I'm not saying Roeder was a better manager, but at least you could see what he was trying to do (e.g. playing people in correct positions (majority of time), setting up 442 most matches, not just hoofing it long at every given opportunity, actually trying to attack teams, all with a ridiculous injury list). Another thing that really pisses me off is that pundits and armchair fans keep saying he's "dealing with a lot of injuries" and he "hasn't been able to put out a regular team". That is a load of bollocks. He's had plenty of opportunites to put out a settled team but he keeps chopping and changing because he has a new scapegoat every week. He's hardly had any injuries in comparison to previous seasons but the excuse still rolls out. You've changed your tune, it wasn't long ago you were on here defending Allardyce when people were pointing our problems out. I know. But wasn't that after the Reading defeat where people were going really overboard. We'd only lost a couple of games that we shouldn't have and people were already calling for his head, so I was levelling up the argument. I'm normally one of the more level headed and rational people on here and I'm normally all for giving people time... but in my opinion, he has now had enough time to at least show us that there have been improvements. But as things stand, there have been NO improvements (apart from the depth of the first team squad). The sad thing is, he's working with a better squad than Roeder aswell. And I now go to St James's on a match day expecting us to get turned over or maybe snatch something if we're lucky. thats why i always go on about performances.you can win games playing shit but it wont last. if we were in the top 4 after these performances i'd still be yelling that it isn't good enough (though probably not calling for his head..........yet!). if you get beat but play well consistently things will turn round...if you play shit and win consistently you'll get found out

Not exactly no. He'd taken over Pardew's side which had been flying the season before and led them to miss out on the play-offs too. The 11 games without a win was on the back of a time when we'd been playing ok, but Coppell hadn't really made that much of an improvement on Pardew's team. He'd paid a record fee for Bobby Convey who'd looked awful and only started a handful of games that season, he bought in Keown and Ferdinand to add some experience and that backfired and he'd let the club captain go to local rivals to be replaced by a raw free transfer from Brentford. At the time Coppell even came out and said he had no idea what was going on or how to fix it. Basically he didn't have that much good grace in the tank but credit where it's due John Madjeski, and pretty much most of the fans, stuck by him and he delivered. but how long should you stick by a manager who is taking you backwards.
-
the difference being when he led you on that 11 game winless run you could think that he had previously led you on a good run and maybe, just maybe played well once or twice...in that winless run there were maybe times when you could see some sort of improvemnet ?
-
a) i don't think we'll finish as high as 12th b)providing we avoid relegation i'll be quite happy with the manager if i can see improvement and cause for optimism. (which i don't on either point right now)

I share that same sentiment. Those people that boo are somewhat immature to be frank. Additionally, booing a player will just lower his confidence, and what help does it serve? Look at Bramble, he's scored an important goal for Wigan against Liverpool! and you know why he's been doing better for Wigan than Newcastle? My guess is.... the fans have lower expectations and less booing, resulting in him having more confidence on the pitch. So Newcastle fans who boo and rant unnecessarily, I seriously doubt you're doing anything good for the club that way... Regards, Ericz bramble scored important goals for us and my guess is he isn't playing any better at wigan than he was at SJP,just maybe now we'll understand he was better then many thought he was. (no fucking idea why i'm typing this as it will blah blah blahblah

thought both defences(defending as a team)were similar,they had a cutting edge

i mean "instead" of allardyce but leaving us time to find a fulltime appointment. yeah sorry, haha. It dawned on me after I'd posted. So in effect, a caretaker? The only qualm I'd have about that is that the interim manager does well, drags us up the league and performances improve, so we decide to appoint him full-time. Then we think "oh goody" and he's appointed as full-time manager. However in his first full season, he begins to lose it. He makes poor signings, some of which are panic signings on deadline day and we're back to square one in terms of what we're seeing on the pitch. I think this happened not so long ago somewhere.... thats why i mentioned keegan and venables who would probably prefer a job upstairs in the summer
-
reckon he'd probably want it full tiime.....good pun link mind
-
go for a good long term appointment

acording to tonights setanta sports news mort has said we will be active in ther january window and he expects to sstregthen the squad by a couple......dont know if that includes tozer. apols if already posted
-
shearer would never take the post as an interim and right now i thik thats what we need
-
listening to a few different groups in the pub (before and after), most think now is a bad time to be attracting a new manager but want rid of allardyce,so an interim could seem an option ? i did nose in to others debates and various names came out of those who would possibly do it.......keegan.venables. the idea being that they dont want the long term job and would give us some time, experience and entertainment. even worth keeping on in some capacity at the club...proxy DOF to persuade players to come here. whilst not being pressure on the mangemebnt side as they dont really want that anymore. thoughts
-
thats theoretical.......wheres the evidence to suggest he wont ? it's infront of you
-
WIGAN ??.....DERBY OVER THE TWO GAMES. (capitals deliberate for effect)
-
thats the 3rd time this season i've left early.....6th time in my 33yr long sentance.

sure you were there as it wasn't a shit performance (shit result i'll grant ya),not agreat performance but better then derby and birmingham, pompey and liverpool. at times tonight we played attacking football with plan and passion. we didn't get the result we deserved (a draw against a team with 1 away win this season).
