  1. What a fantastic comparison Hiddink PSV Eredivisie Winner : 1986–87, 1987–88, 1988–89, 2002–03, 2004–05, 2005–06 KNVB Cup Winner : 1988, 1989, 1990, 2005 European Cup Winner : 1988 Real Madrid Intercontinental Cup Winner : 1998 Chelsea FA Cup Winner (1): 2009 Netherlands UEFA Euro 1996 Quarter Finals 1998 FIFA World Cup Fourth Place South Korea 2002 FIFA World Cup Fourth Place Australia 2006 FIFA World Cup Second Round Russia UEFA Euro 2008 Semi Final Keegan Newcastle United Football League Division One: Champion 1992–93 Fulham Football League Second Division: Champion 1998–99 Manchester City Football League Division One: Champion 2001–02 England Euro 2000 : Group Stages I think the fact you are pretending I'm comparing Keegan & Hiddink as manager's in terms of achievements says it all, your not reslly interested in having a sensible conversation are you? More interested in your ' eeee god look how far out he is '. I was comparing how ANY manager would have felt when Dennis Wise told them the Gonzalez story. I'm sure someone like Hiddink would not accepted stuff like that, like most managers. I think you already knew that, but were still sad enough to dig up every detail of the cv's of both managers. unfortunatly i doubt the gonzalez stroy is a rarity and anyone who thinks managers will have the final say in all comings and goings is naive. IIm sure its not, but this was when the squad was desperately short in certain area's, only a day before the transfer window shut, and when any trust you would have with your DOF would be broken ("Ive got a great player for you"). And Im sure that that any other favour's to other ganets in football at least get returned (where were the south american wonder kids in January?). Its not exactly impressive stuff (to say the least) for any manager who is serious about taking the club forward. thats why i've always asked about the players keegan wanted. he wanted modric, the players agents chose not to, apparently we had a deal set up for derdiyok which keegan stopped, guthrie he got, bassong was wises deal when he wasn't playing then keegans when he was doing well, rumours persist over schweinsteiger, would all have been well had he signed ? if so, the story goes he just decided to stay in germany after agreeing terms etc, keegan seemed very happy about gutierrez and confused about coloccini. until we know about the way other players were brought in and who keegan actually wanted then to me it looks like yes, keegan was correct in his constructive dismissal but the vast majority of other managers put up with similar and understand it as part of the job.

    Champions League

You'd rather win the Premiership than the CL? Maniac. the PL gives you a legitimate claim to say you are the best team in the country. winning the champs league doean't give the same legitimacy about europe.

  4. I think it's on ITV1. On ESPN. espn also has wolfsburg V rubin kazan i think, for all those obafemi fans.
  5. when he left i felt like i'd conned myself. deep inside i knew it would happen but told myself it wouldn't. yes i've read the tribunal report and i posted a few questions about it at the time (still unanswered) and until those are answered it doesn't clear the situation up.. as for dennis wse and youtube i'd hoped that would have been looked at by FIFA or UEFA as it seems very iffy as it was a favour to some agent.
  6. haven't seen or heard..what did he say ? (link if poss)
  7. why didn't they just borrow more ?
  8. he had a chance to rectify his mistakes when he appointed KK again but didn't support him. I imagine quite a lot of people have supported Newcastle for many years, watch them every game home and away, and aren't about to stop So what mistakes had he made before appointing Keegan? what planet do you come from ? So you can't think of any, then? malandro listed some. Paying big wages and moaning about it later too. What do you think of him losing KK and what do you think of the quality of our recent signings, on long contracts Ashley's first big mistake was appointing Keegan manager. Recent signings weren't bad at all, given the circs, and none of them are on particularly long contracts. Allows them a chance in the PL, with a two years left on the contract if we want to sell them on at that point. No, Ashleys mistake was not in appointing Keegan, but in the shameful, deceitful way he treated him. How can anyone trust him or believe a word he says after that? I'd say Keegan was the one who it's difficult to trust. It's interesting that there doesn't seem to have been a stampede for his managerial services, since he left. or any idea of the players he wanted that the club said no to..............except zalyatte (?)
  9. 2 singles. liverpool back anderlecht lay.
  10. he gets stick because when he first broke into the team he could do nothing but challange for the ball in the air..............since then he's came on very nicely but many are loath to admit they may have got it wrong.

    Champions League

when did boredeaux start wearing red and white. i thought olympiakos had won last night after watching but not hearing SSN in the pub.
  12. Rome was already built, but someone was fiddling while it burned. to complete the analogy, the fire had already started.
  13. to be fair he was given big gaps inside and he took them. also he look to drift in behind loven a couple of times on lovens check backs to avoid drifting offside......clever movement.

    Danny Guthrie

i said he had a good game.
  15. I'm guessing exactly the same. then lovenkrands wouldn't have played very many games, pretty sure Hughton would've played Shola and Carroll up front. not if it didn't work. credit where it's due man, he's dropped smith and butt as it wasn't working.

excuses. Come on, man, we genuinely look like 2 completely different teams at home and on the road. Christ knows what rubbish they're being told. maybe nolan isn't as unfit as you reckon...maybe he is told to save his energy for getting into the box ? unlikely ?, about as likely as guthrie receiving instructins to lay it safe in away games.

    Danny Guthrie

bloody right its no surprise as we have an extra man going forward (as opposed to butt or smith sitting on our centre halves toes) and lovenkrantz making intelligent movement.

    Danny Guthrie

was good against a very poor opposition. fantastic is going a tad over the top.......................nolan looked decent against this lot and gutierrez coukd take everyone on. carroll deservedly MOTM, scared the life out of them, then routledge .
  19. and they've all played better than barton in the past 2 seasons..
  20. all you said was midfielder...gutierrez plays in midfield.
  21. doubt it. some of gutierrez performances for argentina beat anything i've seen barton do.
  22. wages maybe closer to 50% of turnover but that will mean little if he uses any excess to pay his loans back before the club is ready. I agree he has a lot to prove next season, like I said he has to spend some cash in the summer, we can't expect huge sums to be spent but he has to buy quality and replace the likes of Butt and Nolan. And yes he has to hold back on getting some of his loans back but nobody can predict what he'll do, but the question is, is mike ashley steering Newcastle in the right direction, I can't see how the answer can be no. At the very very best, if all you (and they) say is true and he's making the tough financial decisions to sort us out and the past year has been beneficial in terms of cost cutting, then I think the most you could say would be that he's put the brakes on our decline and there's a lot more work to do to start moving in the right direction. I don't believe that's the case though because, as I've said, the debt has been increasing at a far greater rate since Ashley arrived (and continues to do so). If we go up all The Ashley supporters are insisting he'll spend the money needed to keep us up....undoingh all the "good work" he's done bringing down costs. It's a logical fallacy. does that mean i have escaped being labelled an ashley supporter ?
  23. surely it should be about what he would bring to the team. talent is pointless if it can't be transferred onto the pitch.
