Kind of agree with this sentiment. I get the impression that they feel the squad, though thin, should be more than strong enough to yield a decent return this season. I reckon if they can get a bargain (or two) "over the line", then fine, if not the only addition before the next transfer window will be a new manager (mid September IMO if we carry on last seasons form). Yeah. I mean, make no mistake, we're run by expert level clowns. And IMO the stupidity of their actions is more consistent with incompetence than it is maliciousness. Ashley/Kinnear/Pardew are not out to annoy anyone; annoyance happens because their decisions are so goddamn stupid, not deliberately agitating.

Plus due to extensive short term thinking and excessive emphasis on the bottom line few teams are willing to take a punt on lower league players because they can cheap (and allegedly proven) foreigners for same/less. Premya Leeg Getting harder to even get lower league players at a reasonable price. Ince with one year on his contract £8m, Whickham was what? £10m? Dwight Gayle £8m, Zaha £15m etc.. Getting established lower league players is still pricey, but wasn't there a recent rule change regarding compensation that basically made it so PL clubs can pluck young talent from lower division clubs at a pittance?
