Well it just shows he's smarter than a rock really. The sensible approach walking into this situation would be the humble one and he's taking it. Hardly going to do a dance on Hughtons grave is he? That said he picked the right team and made the right changes today but he's still on probation - a result against Birmingham (the quote unquote kind of game we should be looking to pick up 3 in but haven't been) will help his case.

What if Pardew was the one who got him injured?

Had better be crystal fucking clear now to all and sundry he cannot go.

Pardew settling for a hard earned point in his first game in charge.

de jong is a leg-murdering psycho but I find balotelli somehow even more repulsive

Well we wouldn't get in anybody of Barton's quality, for a start. I reckon we could find a midfielder who scores more goals than Joseph Rubbish, regardless of goals scored best midfielder at the club by miles and without him we are surely fucked! He's definitely in that core group of "must start" for me, don't know about 'by miles' but agree with the fucked sentiment. Sounds funny but I don't think he'll go.

Every window someone pipes up with "asset stripping" and every close of window we're still pretty whole, if not slightly bigger. Which is not to say he won't, but there's still no indicator he will.

Still disgusted and angry at the regime that instated him at the way his predecessor was treated? Pardew might get results but he'll be forever tainted with the association to MA+DL.

I'd hope the quote from the "What are they looking for" thread still applies

I'd hope a 2nd relegation would force the twat to sell at a reduced price rather than fuck around funding it any more.

It's like that scene from As Good as It Gets "How do you write Ashley so well?" "I think of a man. And I take away reason and accountability"

The (once) billionaire owner finally gets around to assembling a team of (poorly paid) mercenaries.

What can success even mean in a world with Man Utd and Arsenal still steamrolling, Chelsea and Man City able to outspend anyone else, Spurs, Everton and Liverpool with well built squads performing to their level ... even with solid investment it will take time to build us back up to where we could compete with the lower end of that lot, on a shoestring, 10th would have to be considered success.

What's the next level beyond poison chalice? Kevorkian housecall? Jesus shitting christ, this cannot end well and no one would could move us up the table on a shoestring (Wenger mk II ? ) would ever come in and work for that fat twunt.

Anyone want to put together a slow mo montage of Hughton clips with a backing track of I Dreamed A Dream from Les Mes? It keeps running through my mind.

Just threw up a little. Godspeed, Chris.

The problem isn't Ameobi's potential, which has always been high. The problem is that when you name AMeobi to the starting XI he'll nab a goal and be a handful for defenders or he'll control and dribble like frankenstein with a charlie horse, lose possession and sap your will to live. Loven and Ranger, despite not having a better upside to their game, seem at least more consistent in what you get. A better known quantity to work with. I agree that you can argue both ways. Clearly the fact that we're having this conversation proves that "picking Ameobi" isn't a surefire indicator that Hughton is a terrible manager? I'm not one of the opinion he's a terrible manager. I'm of the opinion picking shola is a terrible choice because he's shite more often than good and let's face it, is never going to be consistently good. I think Chris took a gamble starting him today and it didn't pay off.
